Dried marijuana leaves and suspected shabu were confiscated from two prominent personalities by elements of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-18) and Police Station 6 in a drug bust in a South Terminal in Sambok, Barangay 31 around 6:20 p.m. Wednesday.

Arrested were Joe Michael Chua Caylan and his cousin John Michael Chua Caunga, both of legal age.

The two were in a private car when they sold the prohibited drug to a poseur-buyer member of PDEA.

The Board of Trustees of the St. John’s Institute (SJI) answered the claims of Bacolod Bishop Patricio Buzon published in a local daily yesterday.

In its own “open letter”, the BOT in the name of the school community said that “an open communication with you since your installation and we have always respected private conversations we’ve had, with due respect to your decision to resolve the issues that have been plaguing Hua Ming for several years now. “

Coca-Cola FEMSA Philippines has already accepted the validity of Sugar Order No. 3 (SO3), which regulates the entry of high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) into the country, Sugar Regulatory Administrator Anna Rosario Paner said.

“There will be no suspension or moratorium of SO3 for six months. It is already enforced,” she said.

Paner said that Coke had also agreed to withdraw the complaint it filed against her, and Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon for issuing and enforcing SO3.

A blocktimer of Sagay City-based Radyo Natin was detained after he accidentally shot dead his wife while in a tricycle going to Sagay at about 11 o’clock Wednesday night.

The incident happened while they were approaching the national highway in Crossing Martinez, Barangay Poblacion 2, Sagay, from Barangay Himogaan.

The victim was identified as Virginia Yones Andalina, 29, of Barangay Himogaan Baybay, Sagay.

She sustained a gunshot wound in the back from a .22 caliber Magnum. She did not make it to Lopez District Planters Foundation Hospital.

Multi-national companies want the sugar and corn industry to fight each other when its plan to put up a high fructose corn sugar (HFCS) plant in the country materializes, Bukidnon Governor Jose Zubiri said.

Zubiri, in a press conference yesterday said he has this “fear that this is the plan of the multi-national and this would spell the demise of the country’s sugar industry.”

A motorcycle driver was pinned down by his driven motorcycle when it fell down in Sitio Moog, Barangay Vista Alegre, Ilog, Negros Occidental Wednesday.

Chief Inspector Nerito Lobrido, Ilog PNP chief identified the victim as Edwin Reyes, 43, married, resident of Purok Gumamela, Barangay Vista Alegre in Ilog town, Negros Occ..

He sustained head and body injuries and was rushed to Lorenzo Zayco Memorial District Hospital but died few hours later.

A janitor of Avocado Elementary School in Barangay Talaka, Sta. Catalina town in Negros Oriental was killed by alleged members of the New People’s Army (NPA) around 6:00 a.m. Wednesday.

Police Inspector Juvinal Rado, Sta. Catalina police chief identified the victim as Joery Cabugnason, 40, married, resident of the place. He sustained fatal gunshot wounds in the throat and back of his head.

The victim was cleaning the school’s garbage when two unidentified suspects suddenly appeared and shot the victim using .45 caliber firearm when he tried to escape.
