Ceres Negros Football Club kept its hope alive after a crucial home win against the hard fighting Ha Noi T&T FC of Vietnam, 6-2, at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City last night.

Benveniedo Marañon scored Ceres FC’s opening goal on a penalty in the 12th minute as Kevin Ingreso double the lead in the 20th minute with a left footed shot just outside the box.

However, defender Manuel Herrera was called with a foul in the 23rd minute against Ha Noi FC allowing Vietnam’s skipper Phan Thanh Luong to score on a free kick from above the box in the 24th minute.

Just a few days after an unnamed complainant sought the help of Task Force Crusaders (TFC) to present to higher authorities a list of alleged illegal gambling operators and their alleged cop-protectors in Negros, another “mystery paper” was sent, this time to the Negros Daily Bulletin (NDB), challenging government agents to go after those behind illegal numbers game.

Attached to the paper is a tipster of Jai-Alai SPEED (Meridien Vista Gaming Corporation) dated Monday, April 17, 2017.

Sugar industry stakeholders continue to doubt Coca-Cola’s sincerity to help the sugar industry despite its claim that it will buy sugar from the domestic market.

Wennie Sancho, secretary general of the General Alliance of Workers Association (GAWA) said, “until there is an official pronouncement from Coca-Cola that they cease and desist from importing high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), the campaign to boycott its products shall continue.”

A team from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has arrived in Negros Occidental to conduct a feasibility study for the proposed 35.85-kilometer coastal road in the northern part of the province.

This was announced yesterday by Bacolod City Lone District Representative Greg Gasataya, who proposed the coastal road development with Third District Representative Alfredo Benitez.

Two persons were arrested around 2:30 a.m. yesterday (Wednesday) in a drug entrapment in Barangay Paglaum, Binalbagan town, Negros Occ.

Chief Inspector Anthony Grande, Binalbagan PNP chief identified the suspects as Sandy Bustamante, 26 years old, of Barangay Su-ay, Himamaylan City; and Renier Manya-or, 26, of Barangay Paglaum in the town.

Bustamante is the No. 4 drug personality in the Binalbagan PNP drug watch list, Grande added.

A construction worker and a jobless man were arrested in separate drug buy bust operations in Cadiz City and Himamaylan City.

In Cadiz City, Police Chief Inspector Rocky Desear, OIC police chief of Cadiz City PNP identified the suspect as Michael Sinogbuhan, 27, married, resident of Purok 12 Avocado in Barangay Poblacion 1, Sagay City.

Sinogbuhan was a lead man in the construction site of Department of Social Services and Development Office in Cadiz City along Cabahug Street, Barangay Zone 3 around 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

A total of 70 incoming college students who are grantees of the Negros Occ. Scholarship Program (NOSP) signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Provincial Government led by Gov. Alfredo G. Marañon, Jr., in a ceremony held at the Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City, Wednesday.

A rape suspect who hid for almost five years was arrested around 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at Barangay 13, Bacolod City.

Police Station 1 operatives identified the suspect as Ronald Panega, 46, of Zone 6, Barangay Calumpang in Molo, Iloilo City.

Panega was accused of rape and was arrested through a warrant issued by Judge Ray Alan Drilon of the Regional Trial Court, Branch-41 in Bacolod City dated December 5, 2012.

The Court denied bail for his temporary liberty.

He is now detained at Police Station 1. *(CMGarde)

Top finishers Class ’85, ’99, and ’70 grabbed the Twice-to-Beat advantage in its respective brackets as the 2017 NOHS @ 115 - NOHSAAI “Unity Cup” Bowling Fellowship Season 2 Stepladder Final round is set to start at Negros Super Lanes on Saturday, April 22.

C’85 powered by Iran Pielago tightened their swing to secure the advantage in bracket “A” with a triple score of 1,496 pin falls including their 3 game output of 540-455-501. They had a total score of 7,331 pfs.

Royal Star Trading prevailed against JSY Countertrade, 66-61, in class B division of 2017 Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inc. Inter-Color basketball tournament at Po Hang Gym of BTTHS Wednesday.

In the other match, Organic Solutions defeated winless Basecom with a score of 70-59.

Lito Dumdum and Jan Jan Young scored 10 and 8 points apiece to give Royal Star Trading an 18-14 lead in the 1st quarter.
