Senior duckpinner Hernan Garciniego shone to lift Sports Journ/JT on top in the ongoing 2017 KMH Inter-Squad Trios Duckpin Bowling League Season 4 elimination round at Negros Super Lanes.

Garciniego recorded the highest individual triple scoring of 382 pin falls in Day 2 with a three game output of 131-125-126. He currently has an average of 121 pfs.

In the process, Sports Journ squad set the highest team output in a single game of 368 and in three games of 1,007 for this season.

Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia was invited by the Manila Times to attend the formal ceremony at the New World Bay Hotel in Manila, yesterday, May 11, considering that Bacolod City is one of the top 10 model cities in the Philippines as listed by the Manila Times. Out of 145 cities in the country, 36 were chosen as finalists, and later shortlisted to 12, and now top 10.

Manila Times national daily spearheads the search for most livable urban centers in the country.

These are the induction of new set of officers of PCOM, and the 15th Dr. Telesforo J. delos Reyes Memorial Lecture, with Dr. Edmyr M. Macabulos, PCOM national president as guest of honor and inducting officer.

Two minors were drowned at Malugo River in Barangay 13, Victorias City on Wednesday.

Superintendent Herman Garbosa, Victorias City PNP chief identified the victims as Danica Ilustre, 16, of Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City and Kent Hechanova, 13, of Barangay 9, Victorias City.

Victorias City Rescue Team failed to revive them and were declared dead on arrival in the nearest hospital.

Garbosa said that Ilustre was spending her vacation in the place with her relatives.

The Negros Occidental Provincial Government lost about P800,000 in revenues after a quarry operator allegedly used fake coupons to carry out his business, acting Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson.

Lacson Wednesday led a meeting with officials of the Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) with some Board Members in conducting a separate investigation on the case of the quarry operator from Kabankalan City.

The Sanggunian Pan-lalawigan (SP) during its regular session Wednesday approved a budget of P50 million for the purchase of a a six-seater Cessna aircraft.

The amount is part of the 2017 General Fund Supplemental Budget No. 2 amounting to about P191 million.

“The aircraft will be mainly used for sustained cloudseeding operations in the province,” Board Member Salvador Escalante Jr., chairman of City Council committee on appropriations, budget, finance ways and means, said.

Eighty-seven drug surrenderers screened, assessed and completed the 8-week, 24-session community based rehabilitation (CBR) program.

The 87 were part of the initial 105 surrenderers who attended the sessions but some had to drop out from the roster while the 105 came from the 473 surrenderers referred for CBR.

The remaining screened surrenderers will be part of the consecutive batches for rehabilitation.

The CBR program modules adopted the 12-Steps Program of NARCOTICS Anonymous.

Hinobaan became the latest local government unit to join the growing list of towns and cities in Negros Occidental expressing its support against beverage giant Coca-Cola.

In Resolution 2017-120, the town’s Sanggunian Bayan during its regular session on May 2 said that “high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is a liquid sweetener is used to replace common table sugar in food manufacturing and is commonly used in cookies, fruit drinks, sports drinks and softdrinks which Coca Cola Company is using.”
