ASSFBI Mixed kept the Twice-to-Beat advantage in the elimination round as the 2017 KMH Inter-Squad Trios Duckpin Bowling League Season 4 stepladder finals is set to roll off at Negros Super Lanes tonight.

Managed by Sylvia Del Rosario, the ASSFBI bowlers struggled in their first 2 games with 288 and 271 in the pairing games but they were able to recover a crucial 3rd game with 307.

Raymund Dela Peña (6.0/6 pts, 31 BH) of Bacolod City scored a perfect 6 games to take the title in the Open Category of the recently-concluded 2017 Mansilingan Charter Day Chess Tournament at MANCHESS Club in Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

Dela Peña reigned over fellow Bacolod-native National Master Edwin Tan (5.5/6, 33.5), who edged eventual 3rd placer Roming Sadia III (5.5/6, 29.5) of Escalante City with higher Buchholz points for a 2nd place finish.

After an evenly matched result in Round 7, FIDE Master Sander Severino of Silay City broke the tie against International Master Joel Pimentel of Bacolod City through the best-of-5 games Blitz to secure the Piaya Network Broadcasting Corporation/6th Negros Closed Chess Championship title at The District North Point, Ayala Malls in Talisay City on Wednesday.

Considering that the main streets can no longer accommodate the increasing number of people and vehicles resulting to traffic congestion, the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod City approved the resolution of Councilor Caesar Distrito in Wednesday's session, requesting the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) to assign traffic enforcers in all pedestrian lanes. This is to guide the people in crossing the streets and signal vehicles in order to have fast access.

This is to provide ease of access in all roads and provide comfort and convenience to all road users.

A resident of Tayum Street, Barangay 4, Kabankalan City was arrested in a drug bust around 6:10 p.m. Wednesday.

Police Superintendent Rhea Santos, Kabankalan City PNP chief identified the suspect as Kenneth Anthony Abadiano Gelvezon, Jr., "Alyas "Kimpe", 28, male, single, jobless and resident of the place.

SPO1 Rue Quirico Bandola arrested the suspect in coordination with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

A resident of Barangay Manalad, Ilog town in Negros Occidental was arrested by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in a drug bust in URSUMCO in Barangay Alangilanan, Manjuyod town, Negros Oriental around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The PDEA led by SPO1 Marjun Cadiz identified the suspect as Eleazar Gem Gutib Almaiz, 30, single, driver, presently residing in Sitio Riverside, Barangay Alangilanan, Manjuyod town, Negros Oriental.

An unidentified senior citizen was found floating in the seawaters of Barangay Tinag, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental around 5:50 a.m. yesterday, June 1.

The victim was about 60 to 70 years and about 5 feet and 7 inches in height.

Alan Abrasaldo, 36, of Purok Tinago Baybay, Barangay Poblacion 1, Dumaguete City and a fisherman found the victim floating and being carried by strong waves to the boulevard.

A woman who was hacked and wounded by a man was able to arrest the suspect in Purok Dungaw, Upper Luke-wright , Dumaguete City around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Motive of the hacking was personal grudge.

Daisy Maghanoy Barredo, 57, married, resident of the place sustained a hack wound on her left waist.

But she managed to arrest the suspect identified as Enrique Gamora Sipalay, 48, married, also resident of the place with the assistance of Barangay Tanods of Pobla-cion 2, Dumaguete City.

VICTORIAS CITY - A new school rises in Victorias City that promises to deliver "quality Christian education."

The ARAD Technological Institute, managed by the family of Atty. Romulo Araneta Deles, held its blessing ceremony Wednesday, that was attended by Victorias Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca and officials of the Department of Education, represented by Dr. Leah Rosal.

Former Moises Padilla Vice Mayor John Deles said yesterday that the establishment and opening of the school was conceived through prayers and the dream of his father.

The five local government units in the third district of Negros Occidental is eyeing a waste to energy project, Victorias City Mayor Francis Palanca said.

"Together with Rep. Alfredo Benitez we are negotiating with an American firm for the project that will convert plastic waste into diesel ," Palanca said.

Bacolod City Water District (BACIWA) is paying a huge loan from LWUA amounting to P537 million without water gushing from the pipes.

Thus said BACIWA board Chairman Atty. Lorendo Dilag, saying that the Board has discovered that from the P537 million loan of BACIWA from LWUA in 2002, 10 years ago, there were 7.5 kilometers of pipes buried at the back of San Miguel Corporation, with no water gushing from it because it was overdesigned and do not address the water crisis of BACIWA. Dilag also said, the big pipes buried were very big, but there is no water.

Task Force Crusaders (TFC) cleared an engineer as the one behind the complaint against his own boss for alleged "unexplained wealth."

John Chiong, TFC national deputy commander yesterday made the clarifications after Engr. Ernie Mapa, provincial engineer of Negros Occidental pointed to a fellow engineer Leo Galvez as the brains behind the complaint filed with the Ombudsman in the Visayas for alleged violation of Republic Act 6713, or Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.
