Focusing on the other “H” in his Metro 3RD Asenso–IHELP (infrastructure-health & housing-education & environment-livelihood-policy) Program, Congressman Alfredo Benitez initiated an inventory of informal settler families (ISF) and a review of the various housing programs of local government units in the Third District.

Marie June Pavillar Castro, women’s rights advocate, civic leader and former Silay City councilor who was tasked as District Coordinator for Housing Concerns DCHC), said the initial inventory recorded close to 50,000 informal settler families in Victorias, EB Magalona, Silay, Talisay and Murcia. As she works closely with the LGUs to assist fast-tracking their housing programs and other related concerns, the listing and mapping of ISFs continue to generate an accurate data-baseline for appropriate interventions and provide relevant inputs to policy initiatives to address the housing backlog and other issues.

Police operatives who arrested a drug pusher in Purok Gonzaga, Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City on Tuesday evening, who is allegedly a minor, will be determined of his real identity.

This was disclosed by Inspector Adrian James Albaytar, head of Bacolod City Police Office Drug Enforcement Unit.

The suspect, Faizal Tantua Sacar, 17, married, resident of Islamic Community of Barangay 30, was arrested with four big heat sealed and one elongated sachets of suspected shabu worth P 200, 000.

Two drug suspects were arrested in drug buy bust operation in Zone 4, Gonzaga Street in Barangay 2 in Victorias City around 9:00 p.m.

Police Superintendent German Garbosa, Victorias City PNP chief identified the suspects as Ponciano Gentonzo Tang, Jr., 40, married, and Antonio Grajo Salgon, 24, single, of the said place.

Garbosa said that Tang has surrendered during “Operation Tokhang” and has a case in violation of Section 11 of RA 9165 and was only freed on bail.

Salgon, on the other hand, was included in the baseline watch list of Victorias City PNP.

A dead body was found in Sitio Bagacay in Barangay Daan Banwa, Kabankalan City around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Superintendent Rhea Santos, Kabankalan City PNP chief identified the victim as Ceasar Alejandro Selga, 64, single, of Purok Doña Aurora in Barangay Su-ay, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.

The victim’s body, found near the estuary, was discovered by Barangay Watchman (Tanod) Luis Liboon and reported it to police authorities. Investigation further disclosed that the victim frequently crosses the river.

The backrider of another motorcycle was killed along the national road of Barangay Romirang in Isabela town, Negros Occidental around 8:50 p.m. Tuesday.

Police identified the victim as Nicolas Baldogue, 41, married, of Sitio Ilaya, Barangay Romirang in Isabela town.

He sustained head and body injuries and was rushed to Isabela District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

The Kawasaki Bajaj 100 motorcycle he was riding, driven by his godson Ruel Olib, also of Barangay Romirang, overtook a vehicle but lost control and fell to the cemented road.

The supposedly rape case filed against “Tawag ng Tanghalan” champion Noven Belleza of Victorias City was downgraded by the Cebu prosecutor to sexual assault.

This, after the fiscal assessed the circumstances, thereby allowing the farmer- turned-champion to post bail and be temporarily set free.

Despite his ordeal, Belleza continues to get a growing support from his fans and followers, especially after his father’s statement that the young singer “is not guilty” as he “is not like that as a person.”

An anti-graft and corruption group based in Bacolod City is finalizing the drafts of its complaints and charges it is filing against some officials of the Bacolod City District Engineering Office and Edison construction firm responsible for the illegal cutting of mangrove trees, and other alleged anomalies, involving the P148 million flood control project at Gatuslao Extention in Barangays 1 and Mandalagan in Bacolod.
