No.4 HTP DOT 4 routed top seed Ultron Race, 87-67, in the semi-finals of the 36 and above category of the Fil-Sino Inter-Color Petron Cup at Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

Meanwhile, in the curtain raiser, No.2 Sprint 4t Rider advance to the finals eliminating No.3 Ultron Extra, 93-76.

Mark Binguan, Bobil Alagaban, Kenneth Ymalay and Henel Jison conspired to put HTP DOT 4 on top in the opening quarter, 29-11.

Hundreds of less-privileged children enjoyed the entertainment, games and treats extended by 91.9 Love Radio in its recent outreach held at Purok Maabi-abihon in Barangay 35, Bacolod City.

The event is part of Love Radio’s series of humanitarian events under its ‘Love for Kids’ program which aims to bring joy to residents, to children of depressed areas in and around the city.

Two persons were found dead in Sitio Balay Sungayan, Barangay Poblacion in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental around 6:30 a.m. Monday.

Police Superintendent Carlos Lacuesta, Jr., Acting police chief of Guihulngan City PNP identified the victims as Jonald Estacion Planas, 35, married; and Lymar Suma-uy Jambalos, 15, single, habal-habal driver, all of Sitio Balay Sungayan in Barangay Poblacion, Guihulngan City.

They were found with multiple stab wounds in the different parts of their body.

The suspect/s were unidentified.

 A resident of Barangay Hilaitan in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental was arrested by police authorities at San Carlos City Port in Barangay 6 with firearm around 8:00 a.m. Monday.

Superintendent Arturo Fullero, San Carlos City Police chief identified the suspect as Sanar Bolocboloc Villegas, 37, married, of Barangay Hilaitan, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.

He was arrested by PNP Maritime Group led by SPO1 Florentino Cadiente, SN1 Joecel Inventor and elements of Port Police led by Port Police Officer 1 Seady Dama.

A 14-year-old girl was electrocuted in Barangay Bantayanon, Calatrava town in Negros Occidental, about 129 kilometers north from Bacolod City, around 3:05 a.m. Monday.

Chief Inspector John Joel Batusbatusan, Calatrava PNP chief identified the victim as Mae Ann Jane Magalso Empinado, of the barangay.

Police initial report disclosed that the victim went to their comfort room for personal necessity and accidentally touched the electrical extension wire.

Starting August 7 until the 21st, from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m., traffic rerouting will be implemented at the Magsaysay-Araneta area in Bacolod, to give way to the construction of the flyover project there.

Supt. Luisito Acebuche, Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) chief, said the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) requested for the total closure of Araneta Street in the project area to enable the safe installation of steel beams for the flyover.

Acebuche said the road closure along Araneta will start from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. the next day.

Negros Occ. Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. is urging the public to save the blue swimming crab industry that is giving livelihood to thousands of fishermen in the province.

He said berried crab or ‘bukakahan’ in the local dialect should not be fished until they reach their mature sexuality to enable them to lay eggs. If caught, these crabs should be returned to the waters

The Governor also called on fishermen not to harvest crablets. Instead, they should be allowed to grow to 9.65 or 10.5 cm. before harvesting.

Major General Jon Aying, 3rd Infantry Division commander based in Jamindan, Capiz downplayed the claim of New People’s Army (NPA) that their ambush of Guihulngan City policemen in Sitio Mandi-i, Barangay Magsaysay, Guihulngan, Negros Oriental “was a victory for the people”.

In an interview with Sagay City-based Hapi Radio dyAG, Aying said their (NPA) claim that it was the victory of the people “is contradicting their own cause and motives”.
