Negros Occidental HS/Kami Mga Hubin team continues its dominating presence on the lanes in the ongoing 5th Inter-School Alumni Bowlfest 2017 bracketing finals.

Running 1st NOHS/KMH duckpinners knocked down 1,506 pin falls on Sunday including their 3-game score of 495-511-500.

During the bracketing finals game opener, KMH recorded the highest team score in a single game with 588 pfs and the best team output in three games with 1,660.

If there's one single event which characterizes Crop Year 2016-2017, it should be the massive and unabated importation of high fructose corn syrup (HFCS).

Beverage companies and other industrial users have been importing HFCS several years back, but not in the volume which flooded the country in 2015 and 2016. Records from the Bureau of Customs reveal that 53,405 metric tons of HFCS were brought into the country in 2012. The next year, the volume declined to only 32,199 mt.

Jamaica Cortez Corpus and Sharette Reyes of Southland College in Kabankalan City bested four other teams that competed in the Grand Finals of EDC’s Battle of the Brains 2017 in Dumaguete City recently.

A sugarcane cutter or “sacada” from the province of Antique has hacked dead his colleague in Hacienda Gusa, Barangay Matab-ang, Talisay City around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Superintendent Adonis Rosales, Talisay City OIC police chief identified the victim as Vicente Zamora, 54, married, of Lawa-an, Antique province.

He sustained multiple hack wounds in the body and was rushed to Talisay City Health Office but was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Joesabel Macote.

Seven drug suspects were arrested in separate drug operations in Barangay Bata and Barangay 2, in Bacolod City Wednesday.

In Bata, Police Station 3 led by Inspector Adrian James Albaytar of City Drug Enforcement Unit of Bacolod City Police Office and Police Station 3 led by Senior Inspector Jun Ray Batadlan conducted buy bust operation at Block 15 Lot 30 Camella Homes, Barangay Bata in Bacolod City around 2:00 p.m. Wednesday.

A father and his two sons onboard a tricycle figured in a collision with a Wrangler jeep along the curve in Crossing Antolo, Barangay Su-ay, Himamaylan City, 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Police Chief Inspector Antonio Benitez, Jr., OIC police chief of Himamaylan City PNP identified the fatality as Ramon Aguirre Mongcal, 31, of Barangay Su-ay, Himamaylan.

He sustained head and body injuries and was rushed to Lorenzo Zayco Memorial District Hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.

The chairman of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), for the nth time, called on local police forces to also go after cops protecting illegal gambling operations.

Jose Jorge Corpuz told newsmen in Silay City yesterday that despite PCSO’s call on the Philippine National Police (PNP), they continue to get reports on the involvement of policemen in illegal gambling.

“We have a memorandum of agreement with the PNP, as well as with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) that they catch operators of illegal gambling,” Corpuz said.

The first La Carlota City Police Station Basketball Tournament 2017 was officially opened Wednesday. It was participated by the (BCPO Team) Bacolod City Police Office Basketball Team headed by P/Supt. Ronaldo Palomo-Deputy City Director for Operations; (ROPD Team) Regional Operations & Planning Division Basketball Team headed by P/Supt. Romeo Maguad; (LCCPS Team) La Carlota City Police Station Basketball Team headed by Chief of Police P/Supt. Cresenciano B. Cordero and (RD Team) Regional Director Basketball Team headed by Regional Director P/CSupt. Edmund A. Gonzales. The tournament was held at the Covered Court of Uriarte Subdivision in Barangay 3, La Carlota City.
