The Environmental Law Enforcement Team (ELET), Enforcement Section, of CENRO Cadiz City led by Forest Ranger Manuel Vallente, seized another 15 sacks of charcoal loaded on a tricycle, in Barangay Palampas, San Carlos City Wednesday night.

The apprehended charcoal and the Rusi tricycle were impounded at Sub-CENRO, San Carlos City, for pending of proper disposition.*

Some 3,000 residents of Bacolod City coming from different walks of life converged in Barangays Punta Taytay and Sum-ag Satuday, in observance of the 27th International Coastal Clean-up mandated by Presidential Proclamation No. 470 issued on 15 September 2003.

Reserved Commodore Elizabeth Orola-Salabas, head of the Community Relations of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxilliary and also the Chairman of the Board of VMA Global College and Training Centers, Inc. (VMAGCTCI), coordinated the coastal clean-up of Bacolod.

The City Government of Victorias and Canetown Development Corporation (CDC), a subsidiary of Victorias Milling Company (VMC) signed the agreement on the perpetual right to use of the 10-hectare land in Brgy. XIX-A, Victorias City, at the Mayor’s Conference Room.

The land to be donated shall be used as housing relocation site of the informal settlers within VMC and Daan Banwa.

Bacolod City Councilor Wilson Gamboa, Jr. on Monday placed a spotlight on the centuries-old historical accounts of Japanese settlement in the Philippines recorded as early as the 12th century and on the highest regard of Philippine national hero Jose Rizal to Japanese value system during his 1888 visit to Japan.

The Bacolod City government reiterates its call for the public to heed the city’s anti-smoking law.

According to city ordinance 641 smoking in the following areas in Bacolod City is prohibited- schools,parks and recreational areas, food preparations and brewery, elevators, gasoline stations and areas that are near a fire incident.

Smoking is also not allowed in hospitals, clinics, health centers and laboratories, buses and jeepneys, airports, piers and terminals, conference halls and malls, restaurants and in enclosed buildings and places.

A Ceres bus passenger died, while about 30 others including the passenger of a tricycle and the bus driver were injured in a triple collision along the accident-prone area of Araneta Highway in Barangay Taloc, Bago City at past 9 o’clock Saturday night.

Initial Bago Police Office report identified the fatality as April Rex Narciso Villegas, 24, single of Purok Elgar in Barangay Don Jorge Araneta in Bago.

An overseer of a farm in Bago City, under the influence of liquor, was arrested in Purok Mabinuligon in Barangay Alianza early in the morning Saturday.

Bago policemen identified him as Angelo Villahermosa Peñas, 44, married, overseer of Purok Mabinuligon in the barangay.

He was arrested and was turned over to Bago police authorities for possessing one homemade .357 caliber revolver without ammunition and serial number.

Barangay tanods were able to disarm him at a wake, with the help of some residents.

Skeletal remains of a 5 year old girl reported missing August 13 was found inside a sugarcane field September 14 , at Sitio Kuyaoyao in Barangay Inolingan in Moises Padilla.

The skeletal remains were positively identified her parents through her clothes and shorts as that of Princess Padios, according to Senior Inspector Allan Reloj, Moises Padilla PNP chief.

The remains were found by a sugarcane cutter who informed the local barangay officials. Two big stones were found beside the girl’s remains, believing she was struck and her teeth were detached.

A woman was nabbed by police operatives after an entrapment at the Rural Bank of Sagay, Incorporated located at the national highway of Sagay City Friday afternoon.

Police Chief Inspector Robert Mansueto, Sagay PNP chief, identified the suspect as Amy Julito Gomez, 53, “alias Amy”, widow of Hacienda San Rafael in Barangay Mabini, Cadiz.

Leonardo A. Aguirre, Loan Inspector/Appraiser of Rural Bank of Sagay,and Rodrigo L. Aranez, security guard with police operatives arrested the suspect in an entrapment inside the bank.

An old man reported missing last September 15 was found dead Saturday morning at Sitio Mantamiloc in Barangay Isio in Cauayan.

Police Chief Inspector Alan Gary Resuma, OIC police chief, identified him as Melchor Amante Castro Sr., 93, widow of Sitio Mantamiloc in Barangay Isio.

Medico Legal Officer, Dr. Febbie M Vidal conducted post mortem examination on the victim. * (CMG)

A 21-year-old was found dead under the tower of Globe Telecom Friday morning in Purok 5 in Barangay Aguisan in Himamaylan City.

Chief Inspector Antonio Benitez, Jr., Himamaylan city PNP OIC police chief identified the victim as Ohmar Genada Balasabas, 21 and resident of the place.

The victim earlier was reported by his parent to barangay tanods for creating scandal and alarm at their house around 2 in the morning.
