An Education Conference with Northern Territory Government, Australia was held at Sugarland Hotel in Bacolod City, Wednesday, attended by guests and Schools Division Superintendents of Negros Occidental.

Public Information Officers (PIOs) in Negros Occidental are set to hold a seminar today, Thursday, September 28 on the psychosomatic effects of stress to a person and on the benefits and privileges of GSIS members.

Negros Association of Government Information Officers and Liaisons, NAGIOL, President Olive Seruelo of the Provincial Environment and Management Office said noted psychiatrist, Dr. Charibel Escandelor, will talk on stress that will be followed by an open forum in the morning at the DOLE-Sugar Workers Development Center.

A newly identified suspect was arrested in a drug buy bust operation by Victorias City PNP in Zulueta Street, Barangay 3, Silay City, Negros Occidental around 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Superintendent Noel Polines, Silay City PNP chief and the City Anti Drug Enforcement Unit identified the suspects as Fyres Solano Divinagracia, 23, single, of Calye Onse, Barangay Mambulac, Silay City.

Police operatives confiscated from him one small sachet as buy bust item in exchange to P300 marked money.

A police officer assigned at La Castellana Police survived an accident on his motorcycle at Hacienda Layagon in Barangay Lalagsan, La Castellana town, Negros Occ. around 9:10 p.m. Tuesday.

The victim was identified as PO1 Eric Salde Lumogdang, 33, married, of Sitio Baclayan, Barangay Lalagsan.

Lumogdang was traversing from Sitio Baclayan in Barangay Lalagsan going to La Castellana Police Station on his Sniper Yamaha motorcycle when the accident occurred along the constructed road of Hacienda Layagon.

There was no warning device in the unfinished road.

A 16-year-old boy was killed when he accidentally shot himself with a .22 caliber in Hacienda Manaul, Barangay Matab-ang, Talisay City at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Superintendent Adonis Rosales, Talisay City PNP chief identified the victim as Adam Joshua Retio Mananquil, Grade 10 student of the place.

He allegedly shot himself with a gun accidentally hitting his stomach. The bullet did not exit.

A drug suspect was arrested while his companion escaped in a drug bust at Little Tondo, Barangay 1, Victorias City, Negros Occidental around 3:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Superintendent Herman Garbosa, Victorias City PNP chief identified the suspects as Mark Payongayong Belarma, 25, single, resident of the place.

The one who escaped is identified as William Abong Keynel, of legal age, single, of McArthur Street, Barangay 6, Victorias City.

Garbosa said the two were included in the baseline watch list of Victorias PNP.

A man who reportedly ran amuck was shot dead by a police officer around 8:40 a.m. Tuesday at Purok Mangga, Barangay Igmayaan in Don Salvador Benedicto town, Negros Occ.

The victim, identified as Danilo Loquiro, 27, also of the place, was shot by SPO2 Alfredo Chavez, 54, an organic member of Don Salvador Benedicto PNP, who responded to the call.

Loquiro reportedly went unruly for unknown reason at the campsite and threatened everyone he met with a machete, according to Pastor Jason de la Torre Estimo, 45.

In celebration of the Science Month, a Symposium on Waste Management and Related Diseases was held in Luis Hervias National High School to around 800 Junior and Senior High students. An open forum was held after the discussion of RA 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000. Students were then asked of how they would be able to contribute in taking good care of our environment.
