A senior citizen bystander was killed and two others wounded when shot by a suspect at Barangay Lumapao, Canlaon City around 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Chief Inspector Wilfredo Alarcon, Jr., Canlaon City PNP OIC police chief identified the victim as Roberto Ontal Remetri, 64, married, of the place.

He sustained gunshot wounds in the body and was rushed to Canlaon City District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Wounded was Miguela Sabio Del Carmen, Abundio Villafuerte, all of the barangay.

They were later transferred to a Bacolod City hospital.

Three drug suspect brothers were arrested in a buy bust operation in Sitio Bongyod, Barangay 3, Himamaylan City around 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Chief Inspector Antonio Benitez, Jr., Himamaylan City PNP identified the suspects as Roslem Octavio Bustamante, 28, single, “Alias Badboy”, the No. 2 drug personality; Robert, 30, single, the No. 3 in drug watch list; and Bimboy, 37. The suspects are all residents of the place.

The operation was coordinated with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

Power Watch Negros is “strongly opposing” the implementation of the Energy Regulatory Commission’s (ERC) decision to collect from Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CENECO) member-consumers the P232 million “unnominated contract quantities” (UCQ), beginning this month of October.

Wennie G. Sancho, Power Watch Negros Secretary-General, in a text message to Negros Daily Bulletin (NDB) last night said, “we vehemently and strongly oppose the ERC decision that grants power supplier KEPCO-SPC and power distributor CENECO to collect the P232-M from the member-consumers.”

A qualified rape suspect was arrested by Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and Murcia PNP at Hacienda Baging in Barangay Caliban, Murcia town, Negros Occidental around 10:00 AM Thursday.

Police Senior Inspector Ryan Santillan, Murcia OIC police chief identified the suspect as Alejandro Cuelo Palma Jr., “Alias Engkok”, 51, married, of Hacienda Baging in Barangay Caliban, Murcia.

A drug suspect was arrested in a buy bust operation in Barangay 2 in Siaton town, Negros Oriental around 1:30 p.m. Friday.

Siaton police identified the suspect as Roberto Kinkito Amamangpang, 59, married, driver, of Barangay Malabuhan, Siaton.

Confiscated from him was one small sachet of suspected shabu in exchange of P500 marked money.

He is detained and charged with violation of RA 9165.*

A farmer was wounded when shot in the legs by unidentified suspect in Barangay Mangoto, Pamplona town, Negros Oriental around 4:45 p.m. Friday.

Pamplona PNP identified the victim as Edward Ramirez Toledo, 50, married, resident of the place.

He sustained two gunshot wounds on his right legs.

Police said, the victim was pasturing his carabao when shot by unidentified suspect wearing bonnets and black shirt.

He was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital, while Pamplona police is still investigating.*(CMG)

The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) of Bacolod City approved the resolution of Councilor Ricardo Tan, commending the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) through acting Bacolod Police Director Senior Supt. Jack Wanky for tapping civilian volunteer groups as force multipliers in the ongoing campaign for peace and order especially during the 2017 MassKara Festival.

AIDFI wins the 3rd ASEAN Leadership Award on Rural Development and Poverty Eradication, in conjunction with the 10th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Rural Development and Poverty Eradication (AMRDPE) which was held last October 6 in Kuala Lumpur.

AIDFI was among 19 other recipients from 10 ASEAN countries, whose awards were presented by Malaysian Rural and Regional Development Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob. AIDFI was chosen in the NGO sector while Coffee for Peace based in Davao was chosen in the private sector. Each country had an NGO and Private Sector winner.
