After a cliffhanger semi-final round, second seed Francisco “Paco” Collantes nailed the November title in the Tenpin Masters Challenge (TMC) Season Four Shoot-Out Finale at Lopue’s East Bowling Center in Villamonte, Bacolod City.

Paco Collantes defeated OJ Lopue, 211-188, in the championship shoot-out. The senior bowler has 18 pins handicap each game, an average of 201.

For the 2nd runner-up match, Boyet Bullos won over Raymund Livioco by 19 pins, 192-173.

With Ceres Negros FC set to host Global Cebu FC on Saturday for the inaugural Philippines Football League finals at the Panaad Park and Stadium, provincial chief executives called upon the Negrense football fans to rally behind the home squad.

Gov. Alfredo Maranon Jr. has asked the Negrenses to come to Panaad and support Ceres FC as they aim to win the championship title.

Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo G. Marañon, Jr., University of St. La Salle President and Chancellor, Br. Joaquin Severino S. Martinez, FSC and Department of Education (DepEd) Officer-in-Charge Supt. Gladys Amylaine D. Sales, signed a Memorandum of Agreement which will offer scholarship grants to 1,122 teacher-scholars under the Project FREE - Paglaum Program (Batch 2) of the Province of Negros Occidental at the University of St. La Salle–Bacolod Coliseum, yesterday.

Choreographers and group leaders of the final entries for the Bacolaodiat Festival Lantern Street Dance Competition underwent a workshop conducted by choreographer Rudy Reveche and facilitated by the parade head, Kim Villaluna, and Bacolaodiat Festival event management team Monday (December 11) at the Bacolaodiat Festival office.

Bacolod City Councilor Renecito Novero boldly expressed his support to the move of Bacolod Congressman Greg Gasataya to convert the Carlos Hilado Memorial State College (CHMSC) to a university.

He said that there are many benefits for students once the College becomes a university.

“If you are a graduate from a university, there is pride in you; the facilities of the schools will be improved, and funding support from the national government will also increase,” the Councilor said.

Skeletal remains of an old man was found in far flung Sitio Manok, Barangay Palampas, San Carlos City around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police Superintendent D’ Artagnan Katalbas, Jr., OIC police chief of San Carlos City identified the victim as Eutiquio Capacite Lapuz, 85 years old, resident of Sitio Manok, Barangay Palampas, San Carlos.

According to his granddaughter Rubilyn Calbario Torres, 39, married, their grandfather was missing after he left in the morning of November 19, 2017 and probably lost his way back home.

They reported this matter on November 20.

A man stabbed his wife and two others who tried to pacify him in Sitio Exodus, Barangay Crossing Magallon, Moises Padilla town around 2:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Police Chief Inspector Allan Reloj, Moises Padilla PNP OIC police chief identified the suspect as Rogelio Villa Esteva Buenafe, 53, married, farmer, resident of the place.

After hacking his wife identified as Regina Dollente Buenafe, 44, he also stabbed two other persons identified as Vicente Ignacio Amar, Jr. and Rafael Maramara Racal, 30, both residents of the place, who tried to pacify.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-Bacolod will start the campaign for Oplan Biyahe 2017 on December 18. This is a yearly program of PCG wherein all seaports are being strictly monitored against entry of “colorum” bancas ferrying passengers without necessary documents.

According to LCdr Jimmy Oliver Vingno, PCG commander, he will deploy PCG personnel to all ports in the whole province to inspect luggage and cargoes using K-9 to detect contraband and illegal cargoes.

One million pesos worth of damage was reported by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in San Carlos City that razed six residential houses in Ylagan Extension, Barangay 6 around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The fire gutted the houses of Antonietto Delubio, Maria Theresita Franco, Jay Luther Baynosa, Araceli Angana, Cicero Baynosa and Edgar Baynosa.

According to Yolly Pat, 54, resident of the place, the big smoke erupted from the house of Delubio. She immediately shouted for help.

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has condemned the shooting of Julius Jamero, director of TESDA in Negros Occidental, who was shot and seriously wounded by unidentified gunmen in Talisay City last December 7.

“TESDA is outraged and strongly condemns the shooting and wounding of Julius Jamero, our provincial director in Negros Occidental,” said Secretary Guiling “Gene” A. Mamondiong, TESDA Director General.

“This cannot be ignored. We call for prompt investigations to ensure that the suspects are captured and punished,” he added.

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Negros Occidental yesterday turned over to Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. the approved P3.546-billion annual budget of the province for 2018.

The governor received the appropriation ordinance after the presentation of Executive-Legislative Agenda during the Provincial Board’s regular session.

The approved budget for 2018 is 12 percent higher compared to this year’s budget of P3.154 billion.

The SP passed the budget on December 6, meeting the target to approve next year’s budget on the first week of December.
