Champion versus champion are set to clash next month in the light flyweight division.

Reigning Asian Boxing Federation (ABF) champion Merlito “Tiger” Sabillo (27, 13KOs-4-1) is set to test Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) title holder Edward Heno (11, 5KOs-0-5) on February 17 at the Gaisano Grand Bacolod Mall, 4PM.

The Toboso-hailed Sabillo, who is also a former WBO world minimumweight champion, is looking forward to clinch the OPBF belt after a unanimous decision loss in the OPBF minimumweight title fight against Ryuya Yamanaka 2 years ago in Japan.

San Jose in Sipalay City, are hopeful that their 22-year struggle, to get what are due to them up to the time the mining firm shut down, will be attained under the current Rodrigo R. Duterte administration. They told newsmen, they may be divided by certain labor affiliations but in general they are all former MMC workers entitled to what are left at the MMC mining sites. “This is no longer for us or for our children. A stabbing victim died in the hospital yesterday morning, January 8, 2018 after he was stabbed by unidentified suspect in Purok Cacao, Barangay Tabugon, Kabankalan City around 11:00 p.m. Sunday.

Police Superintendent Rhea Santos, Kabankalan OIC police chief identified the victim as Joan Mamerto Kalandingan Manigos, of legal age, resident of the place.

A parricide case was filed against a son who hacked dead his father around 11:45 p.m. Sunday in Hacienda La Purisima, Barangay E. Lopez, Silay City.

Police Superintendent Noel Polines, Silay PNP OIC chief identified the victim as Ricky Tormes, 58, widow, of Hacienda Carmel, Barangay E. Lopez, Silay.

The victim sustained multiple hack wounds in the body and was rushed to Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital. He was declared dead on arrival.

Police identified the suspect son as Ryan Amoyo Tormes, 36, single, who lives in the same house with his father.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Negros Oriental and Dumaguete City Special Operation Group arrested a woman in a drug bust in Purok Gumamela, Sitio Canday-ong, Barangay Calindagan, Dumaguete City Friday.

The PDEA, led by Agent Jason Cabatana and the PNP-SOG by Senior Inspector Arnel Von Alegria arrested Mary Ann Pondoyo Pines “Alias Ana”, 25, single, resident of the place.

Ten big sachets of suspected shabu were confiscated from her weighing about 51 grams with estimated market value of P357, 000.

An employee of a local government unit was found dead believed hit with a blunt object in Hacienda Sta. Ana, Barangay Palampas, San Carlos City around 9:00 a.m. Sunday.

Police Superintendent D’ Artagnan, Katalbas, San Carlos OIC police chief identified the victim as Rey Barangan Baquiller, 48, single, casual employee of San Carlos City government.

Police authorities are still investigating the incident to determine the motive and possibly to identify the suspect.

PDEA says more brys. to be declared drug-free

For delaying or holding up the ordered suspension of five Sipalay City Hall employees for many years, Mayor Oscar Montilla, Jr. was ordered suspended for 90 days.

In a three-page resolution, the Sandiganbayan ordered Montilla “to cease and desist from performing and/or exercising the functions and duties as well as receiving and/or enjoying the salaries, benefits, and privileges of his present public position or any other present public position he may now or hereafter be holding effective upon notice and continuing for 90 days.”
