Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia officiated the mass wedding of 23 couples from various barangays of Bacolod, at the Atrium of SM City Bacolod, Jan. 16.

Some 4, 500 employment opportunities will be generated by the IT Zone of the Ayala Mall Capitol Central according to Ayala Land representatives MR. Gerald Wong and Raejie Juance, who made a presentation during the hearing conducted by the Committee on Urban Planning Development of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, recently.

Councilor Caesar Distrito, Chairperson of the Committee said that the hearing was conducted since Ayala Land, Inc. requested for the favorable endorsement of the Sanggunian as one of the requirements for their PEZA accreditation application of their IT Zone.

A motorcycle driver was confiscated with dried marijuana leaves in a checkpoint at about11:30 p.m. Tuesday at Purok Tilapia, Barangay 3, Bacolod City.

Police Chief Inspector Benedicto Villarias, Police Station 2 chief identified the suspect as Paul Clarence Pioquinto Ellera, 18, single, of San Dionisio Subdivision, Barangay Granada, Bacolod City. He tried to evade the checkpoint.

Villarias said his men put up the checkpoint to deter criminality in the area.

The suspect had a backrider identified as Randy Mata Gensoli, 37, single, of Purok 1, Barangay Granada.

A resident of San Carlos City was shot dead by unidentified riding-in-tandem criminal at about 6 a.m. yesterday at the national highway in Barangay 1, of the city.

Superintendent D’Artagnan Katalbas, Jr., San Carlos PNP OIC police chief, identified the victim as Junbert Calumba, 28, of San Juan Baybay, Barangay 6, San Carlos.

The victim sustained gunshot wounds on his body and died on the spot.

He was walking along a road when the suspect appeared from nowhere and peppered him with gunshots. The suspect fled.

A drug suspect was arrested in a drug bust conducted by the Provincial Intelligence Branch-Special Operations Group at about 6:45 a.m. yesterday at NORECO Road, Barangay Mangnao, Dumaguete City.

“The Ayala Mall Capitol Central will open tentatively this October 2018.”

This was according to Mr. Gerald S. Wong the representative of the Business Development of Ayala Land, Inc.

Mr. Wong said that the Mall will open its doors in time for the MassKara Festival Celebration in October.

He also informed that Ayala Land, Inc. is willing to pay whatever taxes and fees that they owe to the City of Bacolod.

The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) of Bacolod, during its regular session yesterday, extended the deadline for the payment of business permits in the city, from January 20 to February 28, 2018.

This was confirmed by Councilor Caesar Distrito, Chairperson of the SP Committee on Laws, Ordinances and Good Government who authored the extension of filing of business permits and the payment of the first quarter business tax.

“The extension will in effect exempt businesses that failed to secure business permits from payment of penalties and surcharges,” Distrito said.
