The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) of Bacolod City approved the resolution of Councilor Caesar Distrito during the midweek regular session, urging the barangay heads through Mayor Evelio Leonardia to implement the Palarong Pambarangay and Palarong PamBacolod as provided for in City Ordinance No. 568 Series of 2011, known as the Bacolod Sports and Development Ordinance of 2011.

Meanwhile Colt 45-FyrFyter/Dobinsons defeated Cobra Citrus-Super Twins, 86-73 and Asahi-Japs Sportswear dominated Cobra Berry-Mexicali, 99-82.

Alvin Jamora sizzled with 33 points to lead Singcang with the opening victory; Arjie Gicana added 18; Lowie Badilles, 11, while Rocky Acuyong and JR Solano scored 9 points each and Jerome Distrito had 5.

Philippine Weightlifting Association (PWA) president Monico Puentevella said that he is eyeing to bring the event in Bacolod City when the Philippines play host to the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.

In 2005, Bacolod also co-hosted various events like weightlifting, men’s volleyball, beach volleyball, men’s football and boxing.

Puentevella said that he will ask the approval of Foreign Affairs Sec. Alan Peter Cayetano, the designated chairman of the organizing committee of the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

A Catholic church in Barangay Old Sagay was robbed of P100, 000 by a minor around 1:00 p.m. Tuesday.

The priest, whose name was not divulged, discovered the robbery upon seeing his room open. He found the cashbox already missing with the amount inside.

Initial investigation by Sagay City PNP disclosed that two minors entered the convent unnoticed and left the area in haste with the box.

Police did not divulge the name of the minors for possible apprehension as hot pursuit operation is being conducted by operatives.

Tourist arrivals in Bacolod City last year has increased by 4%, according to Butch Gerasmo, Bacolod City Tourism Officer.

In her report to Mayor Evelio Leonardia, 2017 tourist arrivals has increased to 831, 687 compared to arrivals in 2016 which was 799,224 only. Top tourist visitors were from the United States of America (USA) both in 2016 with 9,184; and in 2017 - 11,465. Followed by Koreans with a record of 8,586 in 2016 and 8,978 last year. Japan ranks third having registered 5,178 in 2016 and 6,483 last year.

Three policemen from San Carlos City PNP were injured but caught up with a “habal-habal” driver carrying an estimated P6.8-M suspected shabu in a buy bust operation in his house in Sitio Juan-ong, Barangay Palampas, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Superintendent D’ Artagnan Katalbas, Jr., San Carlos PNP OIC police chief identified the suspect as Christian Pahanonot Unabia, 29, “Alias Beboy,” resident of the place.
