Loyalty Check for LP?
Is the Liberal Party (LP) doing a loyalty check among its members nationwide?
Manuel Escalante, provincial chair of the the former administration party said that national office of the party has contacted him and asking who are the members left in the province.
“I think they are trying to rebuild the party,” Escalante, also an executive assistant of Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr.
“There are still LP members in the cities of Silay, Himamaylan and Bacolod City,” he said.
However, there is no official communication from the national officials, he said.
Escalante said that interim LP chair Sen.Francis Pangilinan is proposing to call a national assembly of the party on January 17 “but nothing official yet.”
He pointed out that his appointment as provincial chair “is up to the elections only.”
“I cannot even call myself an LP member or a member of any party because I am not a public official,” Escalante said.*
