The former SRA Administrator Wilson Gamboa, Sr. wrote about a symbol back in the early 90s to picture how the sugar industry would score upon the onslaught of globalization under the terms of GATT-WTO-AFTA and the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP). He pictured globalization as a hammer and CARP as the sickle that will smash and slash the industry if stakeholders will not be reasonable enough to draw opportunities through production efficiency. His words were unheeded.

True to their commitment upon the culmination of Jam Step 21212, the Children of Bacolod together with Congressman Anthony Rolando “Doc Tony” T. Golez, Jr. and Ang Batang Pinoy Movement headed by Msy Jewel May Lobaton-Pimentel, donated 10,000 Magnolia Purewater to the children of the Gui-hulngan earthquake victims. There were ten thousand students who, after joining the Jam Step for 30 minutes and endured at least two hours of waiting, still managed to overcome thirst and decided to donate their ration of mineral water to the children of the said tragedy.

Mr. J. Abello’s PUREZA identified the enemies of the sugar industry, among others – Marcos, Benedicto, Cory Aquino’s Land Reform Program, towards the end, the century old sociological bad habits of lazy hacienderos, myopia that a hundred by-products can be manufactured and those hacienderos’ “queridas and cocks” and the social psychology of their laborers’ imitation, the non-implementation of the Sugar Restitution Law and the zero-tarification in 2015. Wow!

This third piece took some time because one library of documents was handed to me by former Councilor Wilson Gamboa, Jr., valuable documents which needed to see print as a “kabilin-bilinan sang napatay”, former SRA Administrator, Atty. Wilson Gamboa, Sr. If J. Abello’s PUREZA is a contribution to History, wow, in my possession now are legal documents of the late SRA Administrator who was lambasted by 56 sugar industry leaders Last 1996 printed in local and national papers for one week. They alleged Gamboa’s pretensions as a “modern messiah”. How I wish Mr.

It is always a monumental task for me to write something as perfect as love. For love is encompassing, so vague for words and at the same time, so perfect for it. It is present in your life from the dawning of your existence till the hour when you will bid adieu to life with your last sigh.

As my favorite poet Kahlil Gibran put it, “Love has no desire but to fulfill itself. To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night. To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving.”

It is Hollywood which popularized “vampirism” as a mystical, thrilling, horror-stricken combination of that organ music plus lightning-thunder-wind-rain sound effects. There are earlier records of vampire movies but in the 60s, perhaps over a hundred episodes of Christopher Lee - Peter Cushing Dracula tandem were shown and the whole world was entertained into a stylized seduction. The “True Blood” and “Twilight” series got away from such genre as these are attempts to make vampires lovable.
