PAJERO DIVES AT SEA, 2 DROWN. This Pajero Intercooler 2800 with plate number
FFC 860 fell into the sea at Bacolod City’s BREDCO Port’s domestic shipping
docking area at the Bacolod City reclamation shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday. It
took divers and volunteers of Amity, Chamber, Coast Guard and port personnel
more than two hours to retrieve it from the sea using a crane. The owner of the
car, a businessman in his late 50s residing in Talisay City, and his companion,
a 22-year-old graduating Nursing student of Riverside College were later found
dead due to drowning. Investigations are ongoing.*(arman p. toga)

An alleged mentally-disturbed father in Hinigaran, Negros Occ. was incarcerated after attacking his 6 month-old baby to death, wounding his wife and three other kins, yesterday afternoon.

Bodies Fished Out of Bredco Shore
Two bodies were fished out of Bredco Port, early yesterday morning by members of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).
In a special report submitted by Police Officers Jose Roy Militante, Meller Dionio and Jonathan Guillena who conducted the ocular investigation stated that the bodies were recovered inside a colored red Mitsubishi Pajero bearing plate number FFC-860. It was found around 2AM, yesterday.
Protestors at SRA Over Sugar Price Hike

Militants took the streets in another protest action on Sugar Price Hike in front of the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) building and compound yesterday morning. Members of the Militant Bagong Alyansang Makaba-yan (BAYAN) along with several farmers and sugar workers from Escalante City trooped to SRA to register several points during their protest action.

Cop Succumbs to Cancer
One of the province’s most committed police officers died yesterday at the hospital fighting for survivor against colon cancer.
Police Supt. Alex Belonio, deputy company commander of the Negros Occidental Provincial Public Safety Management Company, succumbed to cancer at the Riverside Hospital in Bacolod City at around 1 o’clock in the morning.

Dignitaries Visit UNO-R
Engr. Bruce Sharp, Ph.D. of the University of Melbourne recently accepted the invitation of the Recoletos de Bacolod Graduate School (RBGS) to be an adjunct professor in the University of Negros Occidental. Dr. Sharp is a consultant in Hydraulic Engineering of NISARD (Negros Island Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development Foundation Inc.). NISARD is a non-profit foundation established as a result of an agreement between Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental to make Negros Island the "Organic Food Island of Asia." Through the linkage of the RBGS (Recoletos de Bacolod Graduate School) with NISARD, as initiated by Dr. Michelle ML. Jalandoni and Dr. Maia V. Ramos, NISARD agreed in principle to have Dr. Sharp conduct lectures and field training with UNO-R engineering students. Mr. Edgardo "Boyet" S. Uychiat of NISARD together with Dr. Sharp, met recently with UNO-R President Fr. Dionisio C. Cachero,OAR and Dean Cristopher G. Taclobos to discuss a long term educational program between Professor Sharp and the College of Engineering.Professor Bruce Sharp was once connected with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) which is world renowned for its numerous Nobel Prize awardees. Dr. Sharp will likewise assist UNO-R establish educational linkages with Australian universities as well as with international-based hydraulic engineering related institutions.

Bulak-Batyag Art Exhibit Set
The Feminine Touch and Babayi Artists will be holding an all female art exhibit at Café Bob’s, Lacson St. , Bacolod City from February 13 to 28, 2010.
