NARCO Politics Alarms Leonardia; Tells Public: Don’t Help Drug-funded Bets

There is so much alarm caused by the possible entry of the alleged illegal substance which was mixed with the rice shipment of the National Food Authority (NFA) via the BREDCO port.

Such alarm did not exempt the City’s Chief Executive as suspicions have snowballed that the so-called "Narco-Politics" have reached the capital city.

Leonardia expressed apprehension on the said possibility which would need a wide range of vigilance from the public.

This matter, he said, is very serious and very dangerous.

The entry of that questionable substance has shocked the public with the mysterious result of laboratory tests conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and other concerned government agencies, thus Leonardia is pushing for a competent and honest to goodness investigation by an impartial entity.

The different laboratory results have caused confusion as one laboratory result as it was a pre-cursor of Shabu and the other as mere fertilizer.

Leonardia said that "before, it was only Narco Politics but now there is also such thing as Abuno (fertilizer) politics."

He added that since the election is fast approaching, he does not discount the possibility that drug money will flood the city adding that, "Imagine that the winner in Bacolod City will be funded with drug money?

The public should be extra vigilant against these politicians who are drug-funded illegally."

He has seen how illegal drugs destroyed families. "We need to bond together, rise in arms together against this so-called Narco politics and politicians."

Leonardia also welcomed closer coordination among the City and Provincial Governments as Gov. Isidro P. Zayco also called on the city to jointly address this problem.

Leonardia said there should be a competent report on this matter. The City Police Office is also helping him in this problem.

Association of Chief Executives’ leader Manapla Mayor Manolet Escalante will also request that the PDEA come here and explain the laboratory results.

He said there is none among the town and city mayors that he heard engaged and use or trade illegal drugs. This place is too small for our leaders to engage in such an illegal trade. But he will not hesitate to take action against an ACE member in case it will be proven that he or she is into illegal drug use or drug trade.

Moreover, the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod will also conduct a separate investigation on this matter.*
