BCCN, USLS Win HS NOPSSCEA Beach Volley

Bacolod Christian Center of Negros (BCCN) and US-LS-IS won the secondary boys and girls Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports, Cultural and Educational Association (NOPSSCEA) beach volleyball titles held at the University of St. La Salle beach volleyball ground Sunday.

The four-member team BCCN of Rainer Gray Cawa-ling, Marvin Jan Cabanag, Eric Jason Sotele and Paulo Tacorda beat the group of Carlo Sendo, Justin Velasco, Sean Rodrigazo and Vince Onate of USLS-IS, 26-20 in boy’s bracket.

St. Benilde School placed 2nd runner-up and St. John’s Institute placed 3rd runner-up. SBS is composed of players of Jose Jover, Alphonso Torres, Christian Vincent and Jan Jan Lajo, while the SJI are Adrian Olaran, Clint Tanalion, Jet Yusay and Cesar Solinap.

In the girl’s side, Dancel Jan Dusaran, Ma. Beatriz Dominic Tan of USLS-IS joined forces in claiming the title against Isabel Juson, Samantha Araneta, Nadine Severino and Rosel Sy of St. John’s Institute.

Thea Deogracia, Leana Mae Sanizon, Therese Ea and Mary Loice Dominguez of St. Benilde School Team B placed 2nd runner-up.

In the collegiate division, University of Negros Occidental- Recoletos team A and University of St. La Salle team B dominated the men and women’s bracket against separate opponents.

The UNO-R duo of John Paul Geollegue and Allen Katalbas defeated the tandem of USLS A Herald Alojamien-to and John Gomez, 21-10 and 21-13.

UNO-R B of Ian Macariela and Macky Soliva placed 2nd runner-up and USLS B of Kelvin Ilagan and Jimrey de Pedro placed 3rd runner-up.

In the women’s side USLS B of Kay Aplasca and Sheryl June Denila won the title over sister team of USLS A composed of April Ross Hingpit and Patty Orendain, 21-18 and 21-18.

UNO-R A of Jennifer Casas and Ruby Casiple placed 2nd runner-up and UNO-R B of Denise Donasco and June Naria placed 3rd runner-up respectively.*
