7-Eleven Donates Educational Cars to Bacolod

Two units of cars were turned over yesterday by the officials of 7-Eleven Philippines to the city government of Bacolod City.

The cars are mobile educational units loaded with complete educational tools and materials for use of pre school children in the barangays of Bacolod City. Liwayway Fernandez, Board of Trustees chairman and Operations director, with Francis Medina, trustee and unit manager for Business and Development Division of the Board of Trustees, all of 7-Eleven Philippines, representing the company, turned over to Mayor Evelio Leonardia the said cars with education tools, as part of the Gulong ng Karunungan Project of the company, relevant to its civil relations services. Each mobile and educational tools and materials cost P250,000.00 to P300,000.00. It is complete for educational development of children.

They were signatories of the memorandum of agreement for the said project, intended for the less privileged pre school children in the community.

Gulong ng Karunungan cars donation has been offered to four recipients in Luzon, Manila, Calamba, 2 in Mindanao, and also in Cebu. This time in Bacolod City.

Mr Medina said, they preferred Bacolod City because out of 46 branches of 7-Eleven stores in the whole province of Negros Occidental, 27 are in Bacolod City. So it is just giving back the blessings to the Bacolodnons having patronized 7-Eleven for almost 3 years now since it started here.

Mayor Leonardia said the said cars will be turned over to the City Social Welfare and Development Office, which handles the day care centers in the barangays. The gesture of 7-Eleven is beneficial to the children in the barangays, and we are happy for that. Instead of the children going to the day care center, it is the day care center that goes to the children. So it is easier and less hazard to the children.

Another project that 7-Eleven Philippines has inked with the city government is the proposed playground facilities for children, to be installed at the relocation site.*
