Man found half buried in Escalante
A body was found half buried in the hilly portion of Sitio Pinapugasan 2, Barangay Pinapugasan, Escalante, Negros Occidental around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Police Chief Inspector Rollie Pondevilla, OIC police chief of Escalante City PNP identified the victim as Danilo Homagdaw Banzon, 44, married, of the place.
He sustained a bashed head believed from a pointed object and four stab wounds in the body. He was already in a state of decomposition and half-buried under Mahogany and Eucalyptus trees covered with stones.
The place is the boundary of Barangay San Isidro in Toboso and Barangay Pinapugasan, Escalante where unlicensed cockfighting or “tari-tari” is being held Sundays.
The victim was reported missing around 10:00 p.m. Sunday after he failed to come home, according to Pondevilla and his relatives, who conducted search until they found him Tuesday morning.
Pondevilla said the victim had an altercation with an unidentified man in the cockfight, who is one of their persons of interest.
They are Jovy Templado De Gracia, 25; Rolando Apabite Lausa, Jr., “Alias Joker”, 26; Isagani Aceras Lumayno, 26 and Juanito Flores Lumangyao, 57, all residents of Sitio Pinapugasan 2, Barangay Pinapugasan, Escalante.
Police is still investigating the case to determine the motive.*(CMG)
