3ID Commander condoles the family of Antiqueño fallen hero in Davao
Brigadier General Dinoh A. Dolina AFP, Commander of the Army’s 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division visited the family of the late 1Lt Jarren Jay Cabayao Relota at Comon, Barangay 3, San Jose, Antique on January 31, 2018.
Lt. Relota is the latest AFP hero who defended the country in fighting against the violence propagated by the New People’s Army (NPA) terrorists in his area of assignment as Commanding Officer of Bravo Company of the 16th Infantry Battalion based in Barangay New Visayas, Santo Tomas, Davao del Norte. He was leading his troops to secure Barangay Mapula, Paquibato District after locals reported the presence of NPA terrorists thereat. On their approach, they were fired upon by the NPAs. During the firefight, the terrorists detonated an improvised landmine that resulted to the wounding of two soldiers and the death of Lt Relota.
Lt. Relota, 27, is a native of San Jose, Antique. He was a proud member of the Officer Candidate Course (OCC) “Manandata” Class 40. He was a licensed criminologist and the only son of Mr. Joel and Mrs. Celine Relota.
According to Capt. Eduardo Precioso, head, 3ID Public Affairs Office (DPAO), BGen. Dolina personally conveyed to the bereaved family and relatives “the gratitude and pride of the entire Armed Forces of the Philippines for the heroism and the ultimate sacrifice rendered by Lt Relota in the service of our country and the Filipino people. We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of our gallant fallen hero. His death is worthy to be remembered and cherished eternally. He died protecting the people from the menace of the Communist terrorists.”
BGen Dolina also gave cash assistance to the bereaved family. Earlier, the 3ID’s 61st Infantry Battalion rendered military honors to Lt. Relota upon arrival of his remains at Iloilo International Airport on Jan. 29, 2018.*
