Bacolod links with neighboring LGUs for comprehensive land use plans
Mayor Evelio Leonardia has recently invited the mayors of neighboring cities and town of Bacolod to harmonize their Comprehensive Land Use Plans (CLUPs).
Mayor Evelio Leonardia (3rd from left), Rep. Greg Gasataya (4th from left), City Administrator John Orola (leftmost), and City Legal Officer Joselito Bayatan (2nd from left) meet with world-renowned urban planner and architect Felino “Jun” Palafox Jr. and his staff in Manila recently.*
These are the cities of Talisay, Silay, and Bago, and the town of Murcia.
With this development, Bacolod CPDO head Mary Jean Ramos and Engr. Kelly Grant Guerrero met with fellow CPD coordinators Edwin De Nicolas and Ernie Earl Baylon of Bago City; Glenda Ruiz and Efren Francisco of Murcia; and Marmelo Sausi of Talisay City at the Bacolod City Government Center recently to discuss infrastructure projects to be incorporated in the proposed Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) of Bacolod City.
Ramos said, “Bacolod City takes into consideration the growth and development of its neighboring cities and tries to incorporate it in its proposed CLUP.”
“This is important in order to achieve a synchronized and harmonious development in Bacolod, Talisay, Bago and Murcia,” she added.
Their discussion focused on two major topics: (1) road and bridges infrastructures, such as the New Bacolod Economic Highway, the proposed coastal road and viaduct, and farm-to-market road including Sugar Road; and (2) proposed public transport system that includes the light rail transit and bus rapid transit systems.
This was the first in a series of meetings in the coming months, Ramos added.
The CLUP of Bacolod is a 10-year development program based on the vision of Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia. It will be the basis for the proposed amendment of the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance No. 216 Series of 1998. It will determine specific uses of land and other physical and natural resources in Bacolod City.*
