Kali-kalihan Festival opens today at Don Salvador Benedicto

All roads lead to the “mini-Baguio” municipality of Don Salvador Benedicto this week as the progressive town opens today its February 5 to 9, 2018 celebrations of its 28th Kali-kalihan Harvest Festival and its 35th Founding Anniversary.

Mayor Marxlen J. Dela Cruz said he is inviting Negrenses and those from other places to come to the town and experience the festival, its products and the hospitality of Salvadorans.

The opening today will start with a 5 a.m. Fun Run at the Pine Tree Area, to be followed by Zumba dancing at the public plaza at 7 a.m. and a Thanksgiving Mass at 8 a.m. at the Our Lady of Miraculous Medal.

At 9:30 a.m., the Grand Parade will be held, and the Opening Salvo will follow at the municipal gymnasium.

At 12 noon, the Blessing, Cutting of Ribbon and Opening of Exhibit, Agro-Trade Fair and Pista sa Banwa will be held at the Bagsakan and Municipal Hall.

The Municipal Farmers Forum will be held at 1 p.m. at the municipal gym.

At 2 p.m. will be the Kali Clinic at the Municipal hall.

At 5 p.m., the Youth Night Skills, Cultural, Comedy Show & Zootah SG Kali 2018 will be held at the gym.

A live band will follow at 9 p.m. at the gym.

DAY 2.

Tomorrow, Feb. 6, the celebrations will start with the 2nd Mayor Mac Open Basketball Tournament Finals at 9 a.m. at the municipal plaza.

At 1 p.m., Diwata Sg Kali Skills Competition will be held at the gym, and at 7 p.m. also at the gym will be the Diwata Sg Kali Talent Competition & Preliminaries.

A live band will entertain the public starting 10 p.m. at the gym.

DAY 3.

On Feb. 7, the schedules are:

8 a.m. Social Welfare Day activities at the gym.

9 a.m. Mayor Mac Invitational Boxing Tournament, and also at 9 a.m. will be a film showing at the Municipal Tourism Building.

3 p.m. Laro ng Lahi at the municipal plaza.

6 p.m. DepEd Night at the gym.

8 p.m. Acoustic Night at Pista sa Banwa.

DAY 4.

At 9 a.m., Mayor De la Cruz will deliver his State of the Municipal Address at the gym; then a mass wedding at 2 p.m. at the gym.

At 7 p.m. will be the Diwata Sg Kali Pageant Night also at the gym.

Day 5.

The last day of the 5-day events is the Foundation Day, to be started with a Pamukaw at 4 a.m., and the Tourism Awareness Forum (Tourism Officers) at Kali-Kalihan Tourism Building at 9 a.m.

At 1 p.m. will be the Kali-Kalihan Street dancing & Cultural Competition infront of the Mt. View Restaurant & at the Public Plaza.

At 8 p.m. will be the Celebrity Night at the gym, and at 10 p.m. a live band and fireworks display will entertain the public at the public plaza.* (Arman P. Toga)
