Man shot by responding cops
A laborer from Mabinay, Negros Oriental, allegedly suffering from a mental illness, was shot and injured by responding police operatives of La Carlota City at Hacienda Fe in Barangay Batuan in La Carlota past 11 in the morning of February 2.
The suspect was identified as Rudy Montejo Silabai, 33 of Mabinay in Negros Oriental.
A contractor of Hacienda Fe, George Cruz requested for police assistance saying the suspected was creating trouble and threatening everyone in the hacienda.
Responding police operatives were attacked by the suspect especially PO2 Edwin Antonio by stabbing him in the stomach but only his uniform was reached by the suspect.
When Antonio freed himself, the suspect turned to SPO4 Jerry Rumbines and attacked him until he fell down to the ground.
SPO4 Edgar Salde, upon seeing that the suspect was about to stab SPO4 Jerry Rumbines he had no choice but to shoot the suspect in the thigh to paralyze him.
The suspect sustained a gunshot wound on the left thigh and three stabbed wounds on his abdomen inflicted by himself.
Suspect was immediately brought to Don Salvador Hospital, La Carlota for immediate medical attention and was referred to one of the hospitals in Bacolod City for further treatment.* (CMGarde)
