Summit, Sunkist Post Wins in Fil-Sino

Summit posted its third win against winless Ultimo, 83-65, while Sunkist hold off Barista, 74-71 in Class B of the the Fil-Sino Asia Brewery Cup at Po Hang Gym at Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

Barista held a 41-39 with Jas Gueverra and Luigi Coo with 13 points each and Dirk with 7 against Sunkist Lito Dumdum and Chibon Uy with 7 each and Joemarie Satam and Ruel Bahian 6 points.

Barista equalled the output of Sunkist behind Pao Pao Lim 8 in the 3rd canto to keep a 57-55 lead going to the 4th quarter.

Bahian paced Sunkist with 14 points; Uy added 13; Chua shot 10; Dumdum 9; Noriel Bermudez made 8.

Coo led Barista with 18 points, as Guevarra had 16 and Dirk Dongon 14.

Ultimo had a promising start as Andy Tio, Mark Binguan and Henel Jison combined for 16 points to lead 22-14 in the opening quarter.

But Summit moved in front at the break 44-40 behind the effort of Marc Lo, Dandan Ong and Beejay Paredes conspiring for 26 pts.

Jeffrey Espuerta and Kieron Tan scored 8 and 6 respectively to continue the Summit Charge while Ultimo quarter output sunk to 6 points for a 66-46 deficit going to the 4th quarter.

Efraim Valencia led Summit with 20 points; Dandan Ong added 14 and Tan 11.

Binguan top scored with 21 points for Ultimo; Nico Lopingco 14; Jison with 7; Brian Tan had 7 and Roderick de los Santos 6.

Meanwhile Creamy Delight recovered from a 1st quarter deficit and outscored Absolute in the next three quarters to complete their come from behind win, 75-66.

With Creamy Delight facing a 52-47 deficit going to the 4th quarter Jay Taleon and Ramil Bulado presided a 4th quarter comeback delivering 12 and 14 points respectively to complete the come from behind win even as DK Equipaje scored 8 of the 14 points of Absolute in the quarter.

Equipaje and Sarge Noble combined for all the 19 points of Absolute in the 1st quarter to stay in front 19-7.

Creamy Delight slowly crept back in the game in the next 2 quarter as Nestor Esmena and Bulado with 12 and 10 points respectively. Ramon Khey held the fort for Absolute with 21 pts.

Ramil Bulado finished with 24 points; Jay Taleon shot 16; Nestor Esmena hit 12 and Rolly Castro had 6.
