Orange-AA Electrical, POC in Do-or-Die Finals

The Orange-AA Electrical and POC were on a rubber match of the Best-of-3 finals in the 2018 D-League Basketball Tournament at the STI-West Negros University gym.

This after AA Electrical survived POC in Game 2, 66-63 behind Junvil Juayong’s 13 points – 11 in the second quarter.

POC jumpstarted with 16-6 blast in the opening period as Emman Go hit 9 points and Jun Ysmael added 7 markers while George delos Reyes hit 3 points for Orange.

But, Juayong alongside Mic Jara sparked in the second quarter for a 23-14 run to cut the deficit to 30-29 at the break even as Jaypee Barzanas delivered 10 points for POC.

POC slightly regained dominance in the third period as Edgar Villaester and Edcel Manday combined for 14 points of the team’s 17-point output and extended the lead to 47-43 entering the final quarter.

However, POC wasn’t able to hold on their lead as Dave Andog, Klint Quires and Joshua Abaring maneuverer the come from behind victory on with tight defense and balanced offense.

Backstopped Juayong are Jara, Quires and Andog with 8 points each as Jan Jan Bejemino, Abaring and JP Peornato added 6 points apiece.

Meanwhile, Barzanas paced POC with 12 points and Villaester with 11 markers.

In Game 1, Dave Docto sizzled for 17 points, all in the third quarter, to spearhead POC to a 78-69 victory as Manday and Villaester added 10 and 9 points, respectively, while Bejemino carried Orange with 21 points – 17 in the first quarter.*
