Ceres FC Sets to Arrive Today for AFC Cup Match Against Boeung Ket Angkor
Reigning AFC Cup ASEAN Zonal champions Ceres Negros FC will be arriving today at the Bacolod-Silay Airport on board the Philippine Airlines for their Tuesday’s match against visiting Boeung Ket Angkor FC from Cambodia on February 13 at 7:30PM at the Panaad Park and Stadium.
This is the only time that the Negros-based club finally returned home after exited from the 2018 AFC Champions League qualifiers in Tianjin, China.
“We are excited,” said club team manager James Dinsay. “We just had a good run trying to qualify for the AFC Champions League. We learned and gained so much experience from those games, and lots of confidence, too, playing against some of the best teams in Asia and lost to a very good team in Tianjin.”
Dinsay further stressed that everyone in the club is now looking forward to the AFC Cup. “We’ve had more time to prepare and get in shape, and we can’t wait to show everyone how much we’ve improved. And, of course we’re looking forward to playing in Panaad in front of our home fans once again. They’ve supported us throughout our whole journey, and we want to feel and share their excitement as we try to start another amazing run in the AFC Cup,” he added.
Meanwhile, club administrator Nicolas Golez stressed in his communication to football clubs in the province that for the succeeding years – 2017 and 2018, Ceres FC’s representation in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) reached far – excellence by making history by representing the Bacolod City, Negros Occidental and the country for the first time in the AFC Champions League against Shan United FC of Myanmar, Brisbane Roar FC of Australia and Tianjin Quanjian FC of China. “All these were made possible because of your kind and unselfish support extended,” he said.
Golez also appealed to everyone for the continued support in making our hosting experience as exciting, entertaining and spirited for the people of Negros Occidental and for the foreign teams. “This will be an opportunity to once again promote Negros football and offer the best in our city and province,” he added.
