An alleged arsonist was arrested by Victorias City Police after setting fire on the two-hectare sugarcane plantation at Brgy. 10, over the weekend.

Led by Supt. Jomil John Trio, Carlos Douglas, 35, was apprehended when sugarcane planters Joemarie Garcia and Victorino Belleza complained to them against the suspect who set their land and crops on fire when they rejected the suspect’s demand.

Reports disclosed that Douglas set the plantation on fire when the owners failed to concede to what the suspect was asking of them. Total amount of damage on the property is still being determined thru an investigation.

The suspect was immediately collared before noon, Saturday.

Moreover, after leading the arrest of a kidnap suspect in an entrapment operation last year and putting behind bars the perpetrator who killed SPO1 Dennis Gimay two weeks ago, PSupt Trio is at the forefront of every police operation conducted by his troops.

PSInsp. Rico C. Santotme Jr., Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO)- PIO stated that hours before the successful operation, PSupt Trio also supervised the anti-illegal fishing operations after SPO1 Menardo Ellaga led the confiscation of six fishing boats off the territorial waters of the Victorias City engaged in illegal activities.

Apprehended were skippers Arames Fernandez and Reynaldo Parcon, both residents of Manapla town of F/B Mahal and F/B Toto #5, F/B Perlyn Mae (Angeles Balana), F/B Toto #4 (Enrico Mahilum), F/B Keara Nea (Romeo Arroyo) and F/B Lenny (Ramo-nito Ilena), all residents of EB Magalona.

They were collared for violating the provisions of Republic Act (RA) 8550 (Illegal Fishing Law).

PSInsp. Gil Flores, Victorias City PNP - PIO and at the same time Psupt Trio’s deputy chief said that all six fishing vessels were impounded pending the payment of fees for their respective violations.

Santotome satisfaction expressed that Trio was former head of NOPPO Intelligence and now Victorias City Police Station chief Police is barely over a month in his new assignment but the recipient of the Medalya ng Katapangan when he was still the police chief of Sipalay City finally is showing his true worth when it comes to law enforcement.*
