La Castellana Centennial celebration presents Bailes de Luces tonight

La Castellana Mayor Rhumyla Nicor- Mangilimutan said, the centennial celebration of the town has been peaceful with no major incidents marring the festivities.

Mangilimutan said that the celebration started last December 14, 2017.

Today, January 5 is the culmination, marking the 100 years of the town with the signing of the proclamation dated January 5, 1918.

“The clebration has been very peaceful,” Mangilimutan told reporters.

She added to ensure peace and order all throughout the festivities, the local police force has been conducting saturation drive.

The centennial celebration kicked off last December 14 with the Lights On ceremony followed by the launching of the Centennial Arch last December 15, 2017.

Since then, Mangilimutan said daily events were held.

Also launched to mark the centennial celebration were the centennial stamp, centennial hymn and the centennial choir.

The celebration, Mangilimutan said was further perked up with the nightly programs featuring popular artists like Jericho Rosales, Bamboo, Mitoy and other television stars.

Also highlighting the festivities was the coronation of the centennial queen the Kizza Lovelle Mangilimutan, the mayor’s daughter held last January 1, 2018.

Mangilimutan herself was given a distinction by the KALAHI CIDDS- national as the First Lady Mayor and Centennial Mayor of the Locality during a program held last December 30, 2017.

Today, the culminating activities include the arena showdown of the Bailes de Luces as well as the awarding of all the winners of the various contests held during the festivities.

Mangilimutan stressed that the centennial celebration will run for the whole year 2018.*(NDB)
