3 killed in separate mishaps

Three persons were killed in separate traffic accidents in Himamaylan City and Bago City on Saturday; and in Moises Padilla on Friday.

Police identified the victims as Rodolfo Boga Cangayda, 26, of Ilog town in Negros Occidental; Vicente Bebar Dizon, 43, married, of Purok Bagong Silang, Barangay Ma-ao, Bago and Randy Belarga Martinez, 22, single, driver of motorcycle in Moises Padilla.

Police Chief Inspector Antonio Benitez, Jr., Himamaylan PNP chief said that incident happened at Bangga 3C, Barangay IV, Himamaylan 8:20 p.m. Saturday.

Investigation disclosed that the victim, driving his Honda, was following a ten-wheeler cargo truck driven by suspect Ernie Lacton Demerin, 30, married, of Sitio Bingig, Barangay 3, Himamaylan from north to south. Upon reaching the place, Orlando Cuevas Eboseo, 61, widow, was having a drinking spree beside the road and threw ice cubes hitting the left side of the door of the cargo truck prompting the driver to stop.

The motorcycle of the victim then bumped the rear of the cargo truck as a result of his sudden stop.

The victim fell to the ground along with his backrider identified as Richard Basig Japinan, 34, single, of Siaton town, Negros Oriental who was injured.

Both of them were rushed to Gov. Valeriano M. Gatuslao but the victim was declared dead on arrival.

Demerin and Eboseo were detained at Himamaylan PNP.

In Bago, Police Chief Inspector Joeffer Cabural, said that in Purok Masulhay in Barangay Ma-ao the incident happened around 8:15 p.m. Saturday at the national highway where the victim, Vicente Dizon and Jaybert Galve Pillone, 24, single, of Purok Weber, Barangay Don Jorge Araneta, Bago were walking across the highway going south when bumped by a Suzuki Raider driven by PO2 Robert Glen Bustamante Priolo, 34, married, policeman assigned at Police Station 2 in Bacolod with backrider identified as Gejohn Suico Lama, 26, married, of Purok Paglaum, Barangay Atipuluan, Bago.

The motorcycle was going from east to west when they bumped the pedestrians, and were brought to Bago Hospital. But Dizon was pronounced dead on arrival by Dr. Jesus Rey Pacilan.

Priolo was detained at Bago City custodial jail facility.

In Moises Padilla town, Senior Inspector Allan Reloj, OIC police chief of the town said the accident happened around 11:20 p.m. Friday at Barangay 4, Poblacion in the town.

Investigation disclosed that victim Randy Martinez and injured backrider Sixto Juarez Domingo, 22, single, of Crossing Magallon, Moises Padilla were travelling south when they bumped the parked Chevrolet cargo truck driven by Elvis Tayo Española, 52, married, of Barangay 4 in the town where the accident happened.

The two were rushed to Isabela District Hospital in Isabela town, but Martinez was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Aurora Gimoto Gayatao.
