Sen. Zubiri Leads Oath Taking of PEKAF Grandmasters and Masters

Hundreds of Grand Masters and Masters in the Filipino Martial Arts of Kali and Arnis Escrima in Negros Occidental took their Oath of Office before Senator Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri, Chairman and President of Philippine Escrima Kali Arnis Federation (PEKAF) held in Sugarland Hotel recently.

Senator Migz Zubiri in his inspirational message said that there is “Unity in diversity. Regardless of style, all we are should be united and be respected. No more discrimination. Let us work together for the common good in propagating our true Filipino Martial Arts in the whole world. We should create the Council of Grandmasters. More things to happen like National Arnis Tournament, Batang Pinoy of the Philippine Sports Commission and Palarong Pambansa. Luckily, we are chosen and accredited organization to officiate the events. We will select the best among the best champion to compete in the Asean Games and the world. With your support and cooperation, we will achieve our goal.”

He likewise offered assistance and support to any ailing or hospitalized FMA Grandmaster or Master to call his office.

Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia also lauded the PEKAF. “You are blessed with the presence of Senator Migz Zubiri. This only proves how good and important you are in this historic event in Bacolod City.”

Dr. Manuel Tawi De Oro, representing Governor Alfredo G. Marañon congratulated the newly inducted members of the PEKAF and gave the importance of discipline towards sports.

Arnis Competition in Panaad Festival will be a jumpstart for the province of Negros and it will be given priority.”

While GM Rene Tongson said that “envy, jealousy and misunderstanding are already things of the past. This is another era of brotherhood for Negros and Panay Islands.”*
