Lights of Bago photo contest winners named

The Bago City Government recently awarded the winners of the Lights of Bago Photo Contest which is in line with the 10th Lights of Bago Synchronized Fireworks Show, aptly themed, “Peace, Love and Unity”.

For the conventional category, Toni Rose Burgos garnered first place, Quino Yao ranked second and Erwin Lim was declared as third placer.

Runners-up include John Kimwell Laluma, Famelyn Villiarias, Voltaire Siacor, Jimbo Araneta and Romil Bernaje.

The said category includes photos taken using digital single lens reflex (DSLR) cameras.

Meanwhile, the winners under the mobile photography category consist of Jannine Virgo, Ken Andrie Cezar, Jenine Arnido, Chelen Villanueva, and Julie Jan Pahilanga.

Winners received cash prizes and certificates.

Photo entries were judged according to visual impact, technical aspect, creativity, and composition.

A total of 53 photo entries were submitted in the contest.

Apart from the awarding ceremony, the city government likewise lauded its partner institutions such as the Philippine Coast Guard, Amity Public Safety Academy, Negros Occidental Provincial Disaster Management Program Division, La Carlota Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and the Provincial Health Office for their dedication and support in maintaining, peace, order and safety during the event.

Held as a New Year tradition, the Lights of Bago musical fireworks display was first initiated by retired international corporate lawyer Raymond Stoffel who then sought partnership with the city government.
