Leonardia visits car crash victims
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia paid respect to the remains of the late Ken Marion Alovera Peñaflorida, 7 years old, who died in a freak accident on January 13, 2018 while with the family on their way to Campuestohan Mountain Resort.
He is the second of four children.
According to his parents, Maureen Alovera-Peñaflorida and Pototan (Iloilo) Councilor Kent Roger Peñaflorida who was driving their car, they were about to enter the resort area when a big tree fell down and hit their car, of which a big branch hit the head of the kid Kent and slightly injured his mother.
A good samaritan, Russel Panaguiton, a Negrense, who was on his way back to Bacolod from the resort, hurriedly brought the Peñafloridas to the Bacolod Doctors Hospital for treatment.
The boy Ken, according to his father was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
The mother Peñaflorida said, it was supposed to be their second time to visit Campuestohan Mountain Resort for a joint birthday celebration of the father of Councilor Kent, SPO1 Roger Peñaflorida and that of Mrs Maureen. They did not expect such gruesome incident.
The remains of Ken is at their residence at Guanco Street, Pototan, Iloilo. Interment is on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Pototan.
Leonardia’s visit was appreciated by the Peñaflorida couple having lightened their grief.
Since it happened in Bacolod, the mayor considers it a must for him to console the bereaved family as part of his itinerary on his way to Aklan for the ati-atihan festival, that he has been participating yearly in 40 years already as his pledge to the Holy Infant Jesus.*
