1 of 2 victims dies in Himamaylan stabbing
One of the two stabbing victims were killed after two suspects stabbed them from behind while at the dance floor in Lopez Jaena, Barangay Talaban, Himamaylan City around 11:55 p.m. Monday.
Police Chief Inspector Antonio Benitez, Jr. identified the victim as Nonato Espenetra Logarto, 40, married, resident of the place. He sustained a stab wound in the left upper portion of his body.
His other companion was identified as Antonio Gamay Esperal, Jr., 72, married, also of the place. He also sustained a stab wound on his back but survived.
They were brought to Gov. Valeriano M. Gatuslao Memorial District Hospital, but Logarto was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Jezreel Gonzales.
Benitez identified the suspects as Roselyn Gutierrez, “Alias Buls”, of legal age, single; and Jude Michael Horolan, 18, single, both residents of Purok Crusher, Barangay lV, Himamaylan City.
They fled after the stabbing.
Police disclosed the victims and the suspects are friends, but while they were dancing in the dance hall, the suspects stabbed them from behind after the “Bongga ka Day” pageant.
The place was celebrating their barangay fiesta police authorities are now conducting hot pursuit operation against the suspect who escaped after the incident.*
