CAAP to conduct airport safety exercise
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) will be conducting a table top exercise Friday, January 26, to iron out protocols and procedures in responding to airport emergencies.
The activity will be attended by CAAP’s Aerodrome and Air Navigation Safety Oversight Office (AANSOO) inspectors and officers from CAAP Manila and local stakeholders.
After coming up with a common understanding on how to deal with airport emergencies, a Letter Of Agreement (LOA) between CAAP-BSA and various stakeholders will be framed that will lead to the updating and strengthening of the Airport Emergency Plan.
“The Bacolod Silay Airport is currently updating its Airport Emergency Plan in our endeavor to keep it abreast with the expanding aviation needs and to conform to our agency’s Safety Oversight Office,” Bacolod Airport Manager I Martin Terre said.
The schedule of activity for January 26 includes briefing and workshop in the morning and critiquing in the afternoon.
An initial Airport Emergency and Response Operations meeting was conducted late last year gathering various stakeholders and responders, among them are Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices, Bureau of Fire Protection, Cost Guard, PNP and airport personnel.*(JSC/Lljr/PIA6 Negros Occ.)
