Driver yields P6.8-M shabu, 3 cops hurt
Three policemen from San Carlos City PNP were injured but caught up with a “habal-habal” driver carrying an estimated P6.8-M suspected shabu in a buy bust operation in his house in Sitio Juan-ong, Barangay Palampas, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Superintendent D’ Artagnan Katalbas, Jr., San Carlos PNP OIC police chief identified the suspect as Christian Pahanonot Unabia, 29, “Alias Beboy,” resident of the place.
Police operatives in coordination with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-6) conducted the operation and confiscated one small sachet of suspected shabu in exchange for P30, 000 marked money.
Police operatives also recovered P24, 960 cash believed proceeds from selling the prohibited drugs.
Police learned that Unabia is engaged in illegal drug trade considering that his house is located in the hinterland of San Carlos, around 10 kilometers from the city proper.
It was disclosed that he repacks shabu in his house.
Three policemen, whose names are still not mentioned, were injured while chasing the suspect who tried to escape by jumping in a ravine.
Recovered were about 593.532 grams of suspected shabu with estimated market value reaching to P6.8 million.
The suspect is detained at San Carlos PNP and charged with violation of Section 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.*(CYRUS M. GARDE)
