SEAG: Monico Eyes Weightlifting in Bacolod
Philippine Weightlifting Association (PWA) president Monico Puentevella said that he is eyeing to bring the event in Bacolod City when the Philippines play host to the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
In 2005, Bacolod also co-hosted various events like weightlifting, men’s volleyball, beach volleyball, men’s football and boxing.
Puentevella said that he will ask the approval of Foreign Affairs Sec. Alan Peter Cayetano, the designated chairman of the organizing committee of the 30th Southeast Asian Games.
Meanwhile, he reiterated that they are expecting more potential weightlifters joining the pool this year. “We need more Hidilyn Diaz in this event. I’m bringing around 10 lifters to China to undergo long-term training as part of their preparation for the upcoming Asian Games in Indonesia this year and the Youth Olympic Games in Argentina,” he said. . Along Diaz are Kristhel Macrohon, Eileen Anne Ando, and Dessa delos Santos.
