Patag kids enjoy traveling Hampangan
More than two hundred schoolchildren of the Patag Elementary School in Barangay Patag in Silay City and from neighboring day care centers were recently treated to a day of play at the three inflatable bounces of varying sizes and a snack of Mingo ice cream, sponsored by Super Lucky Beagler Inc. (SLBI), an authorized agent corporation of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
Under its corporate social responsibility program, the SLBI launched last year the Hampangan Playground project – putting up a world-class playground at the Silay City public plaza.
Yesterday’s (January 28, 2018) day of play at Patag Elementary School is the SLBI kick-off of its Traveling Hampangan that will be brought on a monthly basis to different sites in Negros Occidental.
SLBI Director Dino Jalandoni said that while their CSR programs will touch different sectors in the province, more focus will be for children this year as the company moves forward. “The children are our future and one of the best way to unlock their potential is through play or hampang.”
“Hampang allows kids to imagine, create social connections, be physically active. The response of the children to our Silay Hampangan was tremendous. Seeing and hearing the joy of the kids inspired us to continue this program, as well as roll out other Hampangans in other cities. We also created the Traveling Hampangan to benefit more kids with the concept of play,” Jalandoni added.
The Silay Hampangan is a 400 square meter children’s playground within the Silay City Plaza with an assembly of various play equipment of highest safety and environmental standards, and a section for Filipino games and a story-telling area. Silay City Mayor Mark Golez welcomed the project with Silay as the first recipient of the Hampangan playground.
SLBI also announced that another Hampangan Playground in the province is already on the drawing board. *
