CENECO Talisay conducts energization
After years of waiting, 31 households of Purok Hacienda Virgen 2 Duplex, in Barangay E. Lizares, Talisay City were the latest beneficiaries of the line extension project which is fully funded by Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CENECO).

It can be recalled that in 2013, this Purok was included in the list of Sitio Energization Program (SEP) of the government, however, implementation was shelved after negotiations for the road right of way (ROW) with the land owners bogged down. The reopening of ROW negotiation with the land owners was spearheaded by CENECO Talisay City Director Noel H. Alarcon after the latter received a hand-written manifesto in October 2017 from 31 households of the aforementioned Purok, conveying their desire to have reliable 24-hour supply of electricity. The project’s design, planning and construction was undertaken by Talisay Field Office (TFO) through Manager Engr. Dennis Fernandez and Area Engineer Joseph Richard Ea.
The switch-on ceremony on January 24, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. was a well-attended event because aside from CENECO Officers headed by Director Alarcon, TFO Area Manager Fernandez and Area Engr. Ea, Talisay City Mayor Neil Lizares was guest of honor during the switch-on ceremony on site.
Purok Virgen 2 community got more than they wished for. To their delight, Mayor Neil Lizares offered to subsidize the bill deposit for those who cannot afford as part of the city’s #GwapoNgaSerbisyo campaign slogan.*
