Grudge leads to stabbing

Due to a long standing grudge, a man was stabbed dead by a suspect while having a drinking spree in a store in Barangay Kalombuyan, Bayawan City, Negros Oriental around 11:00 p.m. Sunday.

The victim was identified as Jerson Villanueva Gonzales, 32, of Purok 3, Barangay Kalumboyan, Bayawan. He sustained stab wound on his chest and was rushed to Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.

Police identified the suspect as John Dagohoy Asimayan, 23, single, of Sitio Abito, also of the barangay.

Investigation disclosed that the victim and suspect together with a certain Nak-Nak Amosin were having a drinking spree in A Tosinohan Store, but in the middle of their drinking session, the victim and Amosin had a commotion and were brought to the Barangay Outpost by responding Barangay Auxiliary.

Later they went back to the store and continued their drinking, but the victim sat closer to the suspect and suddenly was stabbed in the chest.

The suspect surrendered to Barangay Outpost after the incident.*(CMGarde)
