Three (3) barangays from Negros Island Region (NIR) qualify as national finalists in the 2016 Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards (LTIA), an annual incentive award system given to Lupong Tagapamayapa who exemplifies efficiency in its operation, effectiveness in settling interpersonal disputes and demonstrates creativity and resourcefulness in the implementation of barangay justice system known as Katarungang Pambarangay (KP).

Brgy. Poblacion, Amlan, Negros Oriental

These National Finalists include Barangay Poblacion in Amlan, Negros Oriental for 4th to 6th Class Municipalities, Barangay Puhagan in Valencia, Negros Oriental for 1st to 3rd Class Municipalities and Barangay Old Sagay in Sagay City, Negros Occidental for Component Cities. Each will be receiving a cash incentive of P50,000.00 intended for the identified development projects agreed upon by the concerned Lupong Tagapamayapa.

The assessment was conducted last April 2016 by the Regional Awards Committee (RAC) which was headed by Ms. Margie A. Biligan, CESO, IV (DILG Regional Director) as Chairman, Judge Anita G. Chua (Regional Trial Court Executive Judge) as Vice Chairman, and Prosecutor Dennis S. Jarder (DOJ), PCSupt. Conrado Capa (PNP-NIR Regional Director/RPOC Representative) Hon. Noli Villarosa (President, Liga ng mga Barangay) and Prof. Virgilio Aguilar from Non-Government Organization as members.

Brgy. Handumanan in Bacolod City and Brgy. Fabrica in Sagay City, Negros Occidental were also qualified as Regional Finalists for Highly Urbanized Cities Category and Component Cities Category respectively. The 1st LTIA awarding ceremony in the Region will soon be initiated by the DILG Regional Office.*
