CLOUDSEEDING BRINGS RAIN

After more than two months of heavy cloud-seeding over Negros Occ. skies, the efforts finally paid off.

Last February 20, a report reached the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist of a one-hour heavy rain that occurred in Brgy. Nabulao, Sipalay City, Southern Negros.
Cloudseeding-in-Charge Engr. Albert Barrogo confirmed that the rains were caused by the artificial method as on that day, there were good clouds to seed and the seeding was heavy.

The Provincial Capitol yesterday awarded Binalbagan as the Best Performing Municipality among 19 towns in Negros Occidental for real property tax collection efficiency in 2009.

UNDOC Slams Sec. Reyes, Mikey Arroyo in Partylist Groups

The United Negros Drivers and Operators Center (UN-DOC) yesterday scored the entry of presidential son Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo and Energy Secretary Angelo Reyes as Partylist nominees for 1-UTAK (United Transport Koalisyon), a party-list coalition of jeepney drivers and operators, while Arroyo is said to be the first nominee of Ang Galing Party (AGP), a party-list group that claims to represent transport drivers and security guards, among others.

Enrile Says: El Niño’s Wrath May Cost P10-B to P15-B

Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile said the other day the crop damage resulting from the El Niño phenomenon which is expected to last until June, could reach between P10 billion to P15 billion this year, thus it’s time for the government to begin preparing for the importation of rice, corn and even animal feeds in anticipation of the huge gap in the supplies of agricultural crops due to the dry spell.

Former Bacolod City Police Office officer-in-charge, PSupt. Leo Irwin Agpangan yesterday assumed as OIC of the Talisay City PNP.
