Pa Shoots Son Dead
An enraged and jealous husband shot dead his son in a senseless altercation
stemming from his suspicion that his wife was lending money in their subvillage
and was having an affair. Shot dead according to Cauayan Town police investigator
Alvin Cuenca, was Gabriel Galvan, who died from a bullet wound from .357 caliber
revolver fired by his father, Moises Monday evening in Sitio Gawing, Brgy. Ilijan,
Cauayan Town.
Police investigator said Gabriel usually intervenes in behalf of his mother
who was subject to his father’s jealous rage regularly. His father suspects
that his mother had been having an affair when she goes the rounds collecting
payments from loans made available to villagers.
That Monday, Moises was again in a jealous rage which grilled his son, Gabriel.
There was a confrontation between father and son with the former challenging
his son to a gunfight. But the latter retorted that he was not up to it, and
challeged his father to a fistfight instead. At this juncture, the father drew
his gun, a 357 revolver and fired but missed. Gabriel then made a move to retaliate
but again, his father shot him, hitting him in the lower right armpit which
caused his death. Moises Galvan is now detained in Cauayan Police Jail.*
