Villagers, Environmentalists Demand End to Quarrying in Brgy. Alañgilan

Clergymen and church parishioners including many villagers in Barangay Alangilan, have called for an end to what they say are destructive water quarrying in the many lower portions of mountain areas considered watersheds of Bacolod, as these practices have led to decimation of the vegetable industry and the possible loss of water in the coming years.

SSS Bacolod Branch Releases P288-M in Loans During 2009

The Social Security System (SSS)-Bacolod Branch has released close to P288M loans to its 25,348 members in the province who availed of the privilege from the period January to December of 2009. In 2008 covering the same period, P257 million loan was released to 22,891 who applied according to records provided by SSS Information Officer Maricel Arrieta-Locsin to the PIA.

Coscolluela: ‘We Have Our Own Remedies on the Case’

Aton Tamdun Utod Negrosanon (ATUN) gubernatorial candidate former Governor Rafael "Lito" Coscolluela said that they have their own remedies on the graft case filed against him and several others relative to the purchase of the P20 million worth of medical and farm equipment during his term as Governor of the Province of Negros Occidental. This case has a long way to go before it will be finally resolved. In fact the arraignment was cancelled and the hearing of the proper case has not been started.
