DPWH OFFICIAL DIES. Engr. Vicente Vargas, asst. district engineer of DPWH based in Bago City, died on this spot at 17th-Lacson Streets, Bacolod City in a mishap between a Canter truck and a pick-up, at about 5:30 yesterday morning. Members of the Amity Volunteer Fire/Rescue Team responded to the call and retrieved Vargas’ body.* (Arman Toga)

DPWH Second Top Man in Bago Dies in Car Accident

The assistant engineer of the Bago City DPWH district, died in a freak accident early morning yesterday as he drove out to the road near the BPI branch on Lacson St., Bacolod City, highly reliable sources said, adding that the accident appears to be a freak one.

City’s Unpaid Debt to Ceneco Blamed for Brownouts

Lone District of Bacolod Representative Monico Puentevella, amidst brownouts in these times of scorching heat yesterday raised concerns that the City of Bacolod has outstanding obligations or unpaid debts with Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Ceneco) estimated to be P250 million, of which such amount could have been used optimally for maintenance services or the purchase of back up machineries.
