Girl Heroine Moved to Provincial Hospital

By Edgar Cadagat

Virginia Rojo, the girl heroine who saved her four-month-old baby brother from certain death after their house in Brgy. San Jose, Sipalay City caught fire has been transferred to the provincial hospital which has better facilities for treating burnt areas of the body.

Her half-brother on the father’s side, Ronaldo and Rolando, when interviewed by Aksyon Radyo said, medical personnel made the move to transfer her to the Teresita Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City after Virginia suffered from extreme chilling which is a sign of infection. In the provincial hospital, she can be well-ttreated, her half brother said. She is actually in stable condition now, they added.

Doctors have informed the family that as soon as necessary, the burnt skin on her face and hands will be scraped.

It is possible that surgery will be needed to replace skin removed from portions of her body which was burned, but which will also be costly.

Several government officials including senatorial candidate Jose Apolinario "Jun" Lozada have promised to provide the needed assistance to the girl while a couple from Manila have declared they will fly to Negros to bring assistance to her. It is possible, too, that the anchorman of a national television station will interview Virginia and tell her story through the network’s wide reach.

The heroic act of Virginia, a wisp of a girl who carried her brother to safety, has been reported nationwide and even internationally through a news agency.*
