AMBUSHED DPWH OFFICIAL DIES AT THE HOSPITAL

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)Undersecretary Ramon P. Aquino who was ambushed by unidentified armed men on March 11, died yesterday afternoon, the Manila Police District (MPD) said.

Right of Reply Bill Gets Media Beating

Leading members of the media community in Bacolod City yesterday took turns airing their sentiments, mostly against adoption by Congress of the Right of Reply Bill (RORB) authored by Senator Aquilino (Nene) Pimentel, Jr. and Rep. Monico (Newks) O. Puentevella, calling the bill “unconstitutional” and tantamount to “state media repression.”

EDC Drills First Well at Buffer Zone

MAILUM, Bago City - The Energy Development Corporation (EDC) has started to drill the first well at the buffer zone of Mt. Kanlaon Natural Park.

Northern Negros Geothermal Production Field Resident Manager Gino Dela Cruz said that the drilling of the first well has already reached 358 meters out of the 2,700 meters. There will be two pads to be constructed at the buffer zone and each pad will compose five wells and the drilling period will take 90 days.

Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia was assured by Bacolod City Water District (BACIWA) General Manager Atty. Juliana Carbon that the pipelaying project along Burgos-Granada Road will be completed on or before April 15, 2009.
