By: Tictac

It is considered to be auspicious to bury rubies under buildings or homes as they are believed to bring in wealth and good health.

The ruby, one of the more popular gemstones, also symbolizes either a 40th or an 80th birthday or anniversary. Indeed, belief imitates life as Federico “Pede” Locsin celebrated his 80th birthday in the Muscovado Hall of iconic Sugarland Hotel.

The party was attended by 100 of his family members and close friends, mostly from Silay City. The simple but meaningful event was celebrated with a mass officiated by Msgr. Gigi Gaston, which was followed by a hearty dinner. The party was organized by his wife, Maria Clara “Mars” Alemany, his son, Kokoy and wife, Gia Reyes, Maridel and, of course, his grandchildren.

Fondly called “Plang” (short for Palangga or Love) by Mars, Tito Pede is a picture of content and wisdom that which can only be acquired through the years truly just like any gemstone where time gives it its radiance and quality.

Some of those seen celebrating with him were Carlo Gamban, nephew and lawyer Rudy Parreno, currently the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) prexy of Negros Occidental, his Gamboa cousins of Hda. Luguay in Silay, and the Jacinto family, also of Silay.

As gems are rare, so is Tito Pede.
