Conservation Agreement Inked
In what could be a most timely event during the celebration of Environment Week in Negros Occidental, the Philippines Biodiversity Conservation Foundation, Inc (PBCFI) and the Negros Forest and Ecological Foundation, Inc (NFEFI) signed a memorandum of understanding to further strengthen their partnership in advancing species and habitat protection, conservation and recovery on Negros Island.

In line with the United Nation’s International Year of Biodiversity celebrations, the Negros Forests and Ecological Foundation Inc (NFEFI) with GTZ, the German Technical Cooperation organization conducted two Forest Camps at Brgy. Patag, Silay City this month.
Green Alert Negros to Pursue Environmental Crimes in the Province
Environmental group Green Alert Negros will be pursuing the culprits of known environmental crimes in the province. GAN believes that for the past 2 years, the destruction of Negros environment has worsened wherein the provincial administration under Gov. Isidro Zayco and Vice Governor Emilio Yulo III did little to protect the fragile ecosystems in the province. Some 300 runners from Negros and Panay competed in Sunday’s ‘Run Forest Run’, a fun run featuring distances of three, five and 10km.
Running for Trees
The Negros Forests and Ecological Foundation (NFEFI) is to be the beneficiary of funds raised at a fun run - dubbed the Run Forest Run - on Sunday, May 16.
The fun run is part of the official opening of a new running specialty store called Cool Runnings located at the East Block Center in Bacolod City.
The run, which will start and finish at East Block Center, will cover 3km, 5km and 10km. Entrance fees are Php100, Php200 and Php250, respectively.

The Filipino Channel (TFC), the worldwide satellite arm of ABS-CBN Global, is to feature the Negros Forests and Ecological Foundation (NFEFI) and its work in helping to protect and conserve endangered wildlife and reforest large areas of the province.
BACIWA Earth Day Exhibits at SM City
The weeklong earth day photo exhibits of the Bacolod City Water District (BACIWA) kicks off at the Event Centre of SM City Bacolod. It will run April 13 to 21, the culmination is jibed with the earth day celebration on April 22.
Engr. Jenelyn Jamora, engineering department head said, BACIWA supports earth day celebration because it concerns the environment, which BACIWA is an advocate in protecting and preserving the environment.
NFEFI to be Featured on GMA
The work of the Negros Forests and Ecological Foundation on the protection and conservation of the Visayan warty pig is to be featured nationwide on an upcoming edition of GMA’s popular environment and wildlife show Born to be Wild. The show seeks to promote environmental awareness in the country.

NFEFI Appeals to Farmers
The Negros Forests and Ecological Foundation (NFEFI) is appealing to local farmers and the food industry for supplies of foodstuffs for the more than 100 endemic and endangered animals in its center in Bacolod City.
